Kulgan
The forgeworld link : is the ' special ' weapons pack, not the ' heavy ' : Forgeworld It includes two missile launchers, two flamers and two meltaguns. As most people only take ML's and Melta's, this struck me as a logical choice for a SW player without many trading possibilities. 1) How many heavy bolters are there in the space marine scout pack? 2) Is the army deal good money wise? ( I can give/sell the drop pod to a friend ) The GW site says there are 10 Bloodclaws and 10 Grey Knights : are there different sprues inthere? 3) How do those forgeworld ML's look? Thanks Kulgan Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/239875-long-fangs-weaponry/page/2/#findComment-2897376 Share on other sites
Gariuys
for those having trouble finding it, this are the forgeworld missile launchers forge world ML IMHO a good buy for SW players, will be buying them myself when I start building Long Fangs. Although I did find out that there is one problem with the design, you have to modify either the backpack or the ML to fit both on a model. Which is a shame really. The_Betrayed_Spacewolf
i was quite fond of my bolscon list that packed in the range of 18 missile shots and 3 plasma cannon shots a turn. for what it is the missile launcher is the best weapon in many a list. it removes the armour saves from all but terminators and a few others wounds most monsterous creatures on a 2 plus and still negates most armour. shoot enough and its going to negate a land raider and other pests. i love the missile launcher and continue to swear by it, that and my lascannons suffer from piss poor penetration. Grey Mage
So I've been working on outfitting my long fangs, but overall I think I should ask what the functional use for the weapons are vs. cost. Heavy Bolter would be...kind of an all around, laying ridiculous waste to Eldar with it's AP4 Plasma Cannon - Anti marine/tda Missile Launcher - Can pop low armor vehicles, and pummel down 6+ armor save hordes Lascannon - Vehicles, MC's, and high priority targets? I'm missing one :/ I'm at work, so I don't have my codex handy, but are there any other functional scenarios for these weapons, I know I don't have all the answers, but that's why I'm posting here, so you more experienced wolves can help stem this pup's ignorance. Well a couple of things- Plasma Cannons are also pretty reliable against light transports like Rhinos, Immolators, and Chimeras. S7 aint so bad at all. Missile Launchers- using Frag isnt just against 6+ save hordes, youll get more damage from it on frag versus most infantry units- Fire Warriors, Eldar Gaurdians, Imperial Gaurd Platoons etc. Oddly enough, it also has better odds of killing terminators with a frag template than with a krak shot, depending on how the unit is set up. I like to run my Long Fangs with a pair of Lascannons and a pair of Missile Launchers. Like weapons working together, with enemy transports and/or artillery being the priority targets early on. Against Monstrous Creatures focus fire is often the best idea, as it is against larger units of tau battlesuits.... S8 instakills the lil buggers. arizonajirt
I recently bought the Forge World Heavy Weapons box and you get 2 each of the Plasma, Las, Multi-Melta and Heavy Bolter. you also get 8 sets of arms and 8 packs to go with it. the price is not too bad, but you have to supply your own marines. as a bit of warning though, I had to do quite a bit of shaping and clean up on them to get them to fit right, and still some are not as pretty as I would like. But that is resin for you. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/239875-long-fangs-weaponry/page/2/#findComment-2901605 Share on other sites

Just curious but, don't you find lascannons expensive? If I can do quick math correctly, you running 145 for four heavy weapons. 6man, 5 ML unit would be slightly less, more versatile, and be less threatening only the heaviest of vehicles, of which melta is safer for anyway. The difference to MCs would be negligible I think, as few 2+ saves exist on MCs, let alone any I see often or would consider top priority. Again, I'm just curious. I have found las/plas razorbacks to the better place for lascannons, as I would almost force myself to take them with long fangs to avoid a problem in DoW or custom-made forced reserve deployment scenarios (which are popular in my local tournaments). I also rely a bit more for anti-MC or TDA in plasma throughout my lists. I enjoy this type of dialogue though, its very informative. Grey Mage
Nope- lascannon is worth every penny for both the increase in strength and the better AP. If need be I can toss those lascannons at tau broadsides, GKTDA, or Tyrannofexes. Particularly against terminators it comes in handy, where I might need those shots to finish off a squad some plasma hunters tore into. Against vehicles Str 9 is rather useful, because it means that if I need a light vehicle taken down I can all but gaurantee a penetrating hit against things like 'Speeders and Piranahs, or I can send them after the big boys like Landraiders or Monoliths and literally double my chances at causing damage. +1 str 8 shot and 15pts isnt going to make up for the lost possibility of pens (basically six ML shots from the 5 guys, with a chance at better damage instead of 5 shots from six guys with no chance of a pen). I loathe not having S9 on the battlefield in a couple places- usually Lascannons and a DCCW. Though I agree- the Las/Plas razorback is great. 3 shots vs light transports/fast guns is great, and 3 AP2 shots is a godsend against the truely elite units out there.... I usually throw my Long Fangs in just such a transport, rounding out their value to a good 220pts- or about the same price of one of my 10 man plasmahunter packs in a rhino wich makes army building rather convenient aswell. Tsavong Lah
3) How do those forgeworld ML's look? I love my FW Missile Launchers, although you do have to modify the standard Marine backpack to fit them over the shoulder. I just sliced off one of the exhaust valves and molded up some greenstuff wiring. Between those two, my two IG heavy weapons team Missile Launchers, and my four normal SM Missile Launchers, my Long Fang packs really feel like they have some individual variety and flair, especially since I usually have at least one Lascannon in the mix and occasionally a Plasma Cannon as well—usually no two heavy weapons look alike.
