Tesla Kiwi
Salvete Omnes. I am looking to create my first chapter on +LA+, and before I start proper, I just wanted to list some of my ideas for c and c: 1. Chapter Name - Aedificators (1 marine = aedificator) 2. Land Based Homeworld - Cavernax 3. Primarch - Vulkan 4. Motto - Built for battle 5. Other Notes: Cavernax is an anomaly in that due to its age and proximity to a star, which it has now drifted away from, has had 96% of its land mass turned to opaque black glass. When the Aedificators chose this world for their base, as a challenge they decided to construct their entire fortress from this material, partly because thick glass is bulletproof and very strong (a few pips down from diamond). It took many years, with all the original founding brothers working on it to construct, but when it was done the chapter had carved from the glass not only their home, but also their own identity. All the armour used by the chapter is forged by the Fabricators out of the glass, using old fashioned glass blowing techniques to keep it smooth. The material is however unsuitable for vehicles due to its weight so the chapter possesses almost no tanks or transports, and have therefore been forced to change their tactics accordingly. The chapter is of a slightly raised strength as a contingent of 200 extra space marines constantly stay on the homeworld or recruit from the nearby worlds. (total 1200 marines) Not including these stewards, the chapter splits into 5 companies, each of two hundred. Every one of these is split into 10 squads of 15 and several extra squads of 10. The marines form close bonds with members of not only their own squad but also their whole company, as the way the chapter fights does unfortunately cause high causalties, so survivors of squads are often moved around or merged, so it is good to already know your new brothers. Each squad is equipped with predominantly melee weaponry and plasma weapons. As the causalty rate is high for a no vehicualr army, it is imperative that new troops can be raised quickly, so the training process is much shorter, and are then given power armour and sent to the frontlines (i am using codex space wolfs for these guys and blood claws infantry horde xD) Thats all so far, maybe moar tomorrow Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/240029-aedificators/ Share on other sites
InquisitorHayn
While the glass thing is kinda cool, I have to admit I'm left a little confused. Why do they only fight with melee and plasma (especially with no vehicles)? And I'm guessing the super-companies are due to the high casualty rate? I'm starting to think their heads might also be made of hollow glass. But seriously, some justification would help in understanding the piece. NightrawenII
Hmm, well the InquisitorHayn hit the nail on the head with his commnet just: partly because thick glass is bulletproof and very strong (a few pips down from diamond). - I think, your teacher of chemistry is going to cry. The chapter is of a slightly raised strength as a contingent of 200 extra space marines constantly stay on the homeworld or recruit from the nearby worlds. (total 1200 marines) - Why would two hundred marines sit on their arses in the F-M, when there are plenty of xenos, heretics and traitors to be killed? As for your combat tactic, using a IA for justification of your table top army is just bad and often than not results in poor concept(s). Like in this case, because there is this book, called Codex Astartes. If you want to know more about the craft of DIY, please reffer to Guide to DIYing or Octaguide. Edit: It will be good, if you could aswer this question: What do you want to do with your Chapter? Cheers, NightrawenII.
