Did a couple 40K games against my buddies elite nid army

He has primarily stealers ansd warriors which means he lacks in the high powered shooting department. so we decided to try out a list with some hive guard added.

esp[ecially sicne i run a dread heavy list.

We ened up with spearhead ant 3 objectives at 2k

I set up my venerables and kept the rest of my force in reserve. a god thing to.

He got almost everything in from reserve on turn 2 and it became a giant CC cluster around my venerable dreads.

My land raider achillies went unmolested the entire game as he tried to work on the stuff that was easier to kill. thansk to venerable re-rolls and some bad dice rolls for the nids i managed to stay with the upper hand till about turn 4. he managed a slew of good hits on the last couple turns dropping 4 of my dreads(3 of them venerables) but it turned out to be to little to late. i managed to nearly whipe him out. he had a single hive guard and a few warriors spread across the entire table. i managed to pull him off the one objective he held and parked my troops in the land raider on one to claim a victory.

We did a second game(not pictured) where he tweaked his list and threw in a barbed heiradoule.

scared of this beast i was...yes

With 12 S10 shots from range and T8 i though i was going to get hammered. i spent the entire first 2 turns throwing every single HK las cannon and krak missile i had at it.

18 shots...... and as luck would have it he failed every single cover save... :P

afterword we dicussed the fact that since i was going first he would have saved himself some wounds had he put it in reserve, even given his bad dice rolls.

the rest of the game was kind of a wash because we were back to stealers and warriors fighting my dreads.

I consider this a fluke game, he should have made some of his cover saves and some better tactical choices. so we are looking forward to a bit more tweaking and some more play testing to fit this beasty in.
