Olgerth Istaarn
Grhm, good points all and hard to argue with 'em... I'll try and shave off the sword on the shoulderpad. Omnissiah help me, hope I don't wreck the pad altogether, I really like it. The sword on the chest I like though, there are swordless chests and there are bookless chests, but I liked this one for some reason. Now what really bothers me now is the word "unholy" on his boot. I know it's probably "purge the unholy" or somesuch, I don't remember what his other boot says. I originally didn't want to fill the lettering, but I might have to. As for the halberd, not worried about that at all. I'm using the warding staves for something else... Olgerth Istaarn
Update: - Cleaned up the book shoulder pad - Swapped the inscribed shoulder pad for one from Sevrin Loth range, with a Crux Terminatus slapped on top of it to cover up where the scorpion used to be. - Tried giving him a nemesis force sword and hated it. The blade tip rests on the ground and it makes the whole pose look like "ech, I'm tired, wait over there while I rest my sword arm". Halberd stays. Plus, I already have one librarian with a BIG DAMN sword. http://i52.tinypic.com/2w1uwt2.jpghttp://i54.tinypic.com/t55fzc.jpg http://i55.tinypic.com/24cwoxz.jpg Still needs a backpack topper... cmon mr. ebay seller... PS. also it's probably time to move this show to the WiP forum... cathar the great
What a difference a day makes ^^ The new shoulderpad looks good and your reasoning for the halberd is sound. I've also noticed that while the new GK swords are awesome, they only fit a few miniatures well due to their immense size. As for the scripture on the leg, it should be really easy to fill it up with Green Stuff or similar product and file it smooth. And one last thing: I'm not sure for what kind of pose you were going with the outstretched left arm/hand. If you want to portray him launching a spell, I'd modify the angle of the hand a bit like this: I also still spy a few tiny mold lines on the model that my OCD wants you to remove Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/240063-librarian-from-gk-bits/page/2/#findComment-2899881 Share on other sites
Boramar
I made a Deathwatch Librarian from Gray Knights bits and others. Hope this inspires. http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z454/Chrisw928/DSC05629.jpg http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z454/Chrisw928/DSC05635.jpg http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z454/Chrisw928/DSC05626-1.jpg http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z454/Chrisw928/DSC05627.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/240063-librarian-from-gk-bits/page/2/#findComment-2901253 Share on other sites
Olgerth Istaarn
The Deathwatch librarian looks wicked! I missed that update... Anyway, all the bits finally arrived and here's what I *think* the final version of my librarian. I didn't like the "sword and book" topper from the GK range, so I chopped it up and converted it. Yes, the joint on the banner pole looks hideous, but it really isn't in real life. Wonders of cameras... The green pins in his base are wound counters. I made three holes just in case. I also couldn't find a place to fit a book on his belt without making him looked decked out like a christmas tree. I definitely want him to have a sidearm, and the book didn't quite fit on his left side where the scroll and grenades are... http://i51.tinypic.com/9rsuf9.jpghttp://i51.tinypic.com/6f9hty.jpg http://i54.tinypic.com/2s0n7k0.jpghttp://i54.tinypic.com/vsl43p.jpg And here's all three of my librarians side by side. http://i53.tinypic.com/2dw6brc.jpg I think he fits in pretty well. Mac_Atk
Here's my renegade librarian from Chaos and GK bits. Clearly still WIP. The back actually matches perfectly with the collar of the front torso, I was pleasantly suprised.
