thor1234
Gather round, Gather round! everyone got an ale???? Good everyone got at least a plateful of that boar? Good then I shall tell ya's all about my most recent deeds, there is was, stalking through the ruins of stygor prime, as usual I led the pups of the company, they were restless, it was for this reason I had led them personally, Alaric and Thengir also acompanied us, I didn't want em' running off causing all kinds of havok, at least not without me! the area needed securing in order for the Imperial Guard to set up forward command centre to drive the Orks out. now we all know the Imperial Guard have the fighting Prowess of a blind hedgehog in a bag! so they left it to us to clear the road......I remember the sound of the Ork flying contraptions as they hovered towards the greyhunters i had charged to control the two communication relays, then the sounds of battle muffled out everything............ HQ Mad Doc Grotsnik 160 points Warboss: Bogey Dungbreath: Cybork Body, Power klaw, Twin-linked Shoota, Attack squig, Boss Pole 115 points TROOPS Nob Skwad: (10) nobz: 3 W/Power Klaws, all have Cybork Bodies 325 points Da Big Boyz: (30) Boyz: Nob W/Power Klaw 215 points Big Boot Boyz: (30) Boyz: Nob W/power Klaw 215 points Da Sniper Boyz: (20) Shoota Boyz 2W/ Big Shootas 130 points Da Shootin Ladz: (20) Shoota Boyz 2 W/big Shootas 130 points FAST ATTACK Da Valkariez: (5) Deff Koptaz W/ Twin-linked Rokkit Launchas 225 points Da Flyin Aces: (5) Deff Koptaz W/Twin-linked Rokkit Launchas 225 points Mission: Objectives: (5) Deployment: Pitched Battle Battlescape: A moonscape, lots of craters, some buildings scattered around the board, a Large Sanctum dominated the centre of the board, some foliage collected around the board as well. Orks Won the roll off and deployed his whole army in the side with as little terrain as possible, his Deff Koptaz deployed on each flank, Ork Nobz with Warboss and Grotsnik in the Centre of his lines, flanked by both slugga mobs and they were in turn flanked by shoota Boyz. The Space Wolves on the other hand deployed tightly, the Blood Claws formed a main battle line in the centre, joined by all three characters, the Dreads formed up on their flanks, each large grey hunter pack deployed on either flank hoping to grab some objectives, and they would be backed up by each pack of Long fangs, deploying in buildings to give them as much LOS across the board, the small Grey Hunter pack deployed behind the Blood Claws, to grab any objectives in range. Space Wolves failed to seize the Initiative. Ork Turn 1: Everything Moved 6” forward, and Ran in the Shooting Phase, only the shoota boyz on the left flank rolled higher than a 1 however and they burst ahead leaving the other mobs to stagger forward, both Kopta mobz Turbo boosted toward the grey hunters after having Scouted putting them just out of sight, hiding behind buildings. Space Wolves turn 1: The Blood Claws moved forward stopping at the edge of the Sanctum, the grey Hunters packs moved the get better shots on the Deff Koptaz, as well advancing to positions to take an objective each in later turns, the dreads stayed close to the blood Claws, in the Shooting phase the Long Fangs turned their attention to the only things they could see which was the green sea of Boyz, with such a abundance of targets that even when one frag missile scattered 12” (8 due to BS) it still hit 6 boyz! Albeit from the mob the other side of the initial target!!! One shoota mob was reduced by 8, the other was protected and only suffered 4 due to poor wounds rolls, the long fang that scattered miles killed all 6 of his targets from the Slugga boyz! Next the dreads added their fire power, each killing four boyz with their assault Cannons, the shooting phase ended with Thengir firing some lighting at the Nobz but with a combination of Cybork bodies and feel no pain they suffered no damage. Player turn 1: 0-0 objectives Ork turn 2: once again everything marched forward, the Shoota mobs on each flank moved onto each objective, the slugga mobs began moving around the sanctum to flank the Blood Claws the Nobz headed straight through into the sanctum eager to get to grips with the Blood Claws, the Deff Koptaz nipped out of cover and headed for the grey Hunters, the Slugga Boyz both ran, once again bogged down by bad footing, as the nobz got 3” on their run move. Ork Shooting was not that bad, each Kopta mob killed 2 grey hunters from the units they could see, while the few Shootas that were in range failed to do any harm. Space Wolf Turn 2: The Blood Claws moved to just inside the Sanctum, but not so far forward as to leave them open for a charge next turn (I knew i was forgetting something here), the Grey Hunters moved toward each Kopta Mob, while the small units of Grey Hunters Sprinted full distance, to claim an objective, the Dreads moved to pour flamer fire into the Slugga mobs, space Wolf Shooting was about as accurate as the Orks 2 out of three frags scattered off target while the other and Heavy bolters inflicted seven wounds from the first shoota mob, but most of them passed their cover saves, losing only 2, the Other Long Fangs were bang on the money killing 10 of the other mob, this reduced them to just two Orks! Next the Grey Hunters opened fire four Koptaz went down to the first fusillade, the second unit wiped out the other Deff Kopta mob, but lost a Plasma Gunner, it all came down to the dreads, the first reduced a slugga mob by 9 members, while the other killed 10, living lighting failed, the stronger mob of shoota boyz (14 strong) were still fearless, while the Nob and his croney legged it as did the last Kopta! The tide was looking a bit thin........ Now if the Nobz could just roll low on their difficult terrain tests........ Player turn 2: 1-2, the Grey Hunter w/flamer held my back objective, while the larger Shoota mob and a cheeky slugga boy held objectives Ork turn 3: the Slugga Boyz moved out on each flank, surrounding each dread, while the Warboss and crew once again stumbled through the ruins, which meant no Charge! (Or so I thought!) the Shootas kept close to the objective but moved to get their guns on range of the Grey Hunters, then I remembered what I had forgotten (well... my opponent reminded me at the top of his lungs!) WAGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!(......... Damn thought I’d get through this turn) Both Slugga mobs ran a full 6” and were probably in range to Multi-charge my dreads and Grey Hunters! Although not normally allowed by the rules we measured the distance between the Nobs and Blood claws to 5”, the Warboss rolled, the dice it bounced over the table, hitting several miniatures, before stopping on a 2! There was hope yet! Shooting saw the shoota boyz killed 3 grey Hunters including the Wolf Guard!!! This was enough to force the Grey Hunters to fall back........ Not good. In Assault the Warboss only managed a double 2 on the dice!!! Hooray!!! The Grey Hunters and Dreadnought on my right flank weren’t so lucky and were hit by a 16 boy mob...... at least i passed my counter attack, the other boyz who had planned to mimic their mates were forced to charge just the dread..... one boy fell and the nob shook the dread elsewhere only 2 boys died to the countering grey hunters! and they were overwhelmed, leaving the Wolf Guard and a Plasma Gunner, the Nob and his power klaw, immobilised the Dread and pulled off both weapons...... Space Wolf Turn 3: the Counter Attack The Blood claws darted through the ruins, making for the Orks, the Grey Hunters rallied and moved to help the Dreadnought, with shooting one long fang pack let rip on the last flying death trap, while the blood claws opened on the nobz adding a plasma pistol and living lightning two Nobs didn’t get back up, in assault the grey Hunters threw caution to the wind and went in, as did the blood claws, Thengir dived for Grotsnik, his rune hammer struck 3 times inflicting a single wound which bounced of grotsniks bionic bonce! Alaric went for the Nobs but they proved too tough for the old priest! (I was beginning to regret this charge now.......) The Blood Claws won back some honour killing 3 Nobz but falied to wound Grotsnik it was now the Orks turn, the Nobz Klawed 8 Blood Claws to their deaths, Grotsnik aimed his attacks at Alaric whose Wolf Amulet stopped the two wounds caused upon him, the Boss and the Thor Clashed, claw met hammer in a dazzling display of sparks, the boss wounded the noble lord 3 times, each blow turned away by the Wolfs Mantle, Thor swung his hammer hard, breaking the bosses arm, then his knee cap felt the hammer stroke, the boss collapsed onto his Knees as Mjollnir smashed his skull...... the boss was dead, enough wounds to win the combat by one! (Not to mention Thor upheld his honour by delivering the killing blow to an enemy character!) One but then the Wolf Guard slew two more Nobz with his power fist! Tipping the balance to 13-8 winning by 5, the Nobz lost another of their number to No retreat! And Grotsnik suffered a wound good result! The Grey hunters aiding the dread killed 3 Orks the dread killed 2, the return attacks slaughtered the Grey Hunters not all was lost when the Nobz Power Klaw struck the Dread, in his last defiant act the Dreadnought exploded killing 9 Orks! Leaving just the nob!!.... the Wolf Guard and Grey Hunter managed another 3 Orks before weight of numbers finished them and the armless, legless Dread off..... Player turn 3: 1-1 Small grey hunter unit and Shoota Boyz, the centre contested Ork Turn 4: The slugga mob Decided to grab some loot and went for an objective, combining their run moves they easily made it, the other slugga nob made for the central melee, a good run move set him up for next turns charge, the shoota boys moved to avoid casualties from long fang fire, in combat the Blood claws managed no wounds, while Thengir and Alaric managed a wound each killing another Nob leaving one alone, who killed 3 Blood Claws, and was in turn slain by the Wolf Guard, Grotsnik now went for kills and targeted Blood Claws in a vain hope of robbing me of a scoring unit, despite wiping out the last four, the Wolf Guard Still stood, meaning he would still be able to grab an objective, Grotsnik was then slain by another display by Thor’s Hammer..... The squad consolidated onto the sanctum’s objective. Space Wolf Turn 4: Thor and Alaric broke off and left Thengir and Hjorvarth holding the objective, their goal was the slugga nob! In the shooting phase the long fangs focused their full fire on the larger mob of Sluggaz on the objective, however a combination of being on multiple floors, wild scattering and Going to ground saw only 1 die, the Long fangs the other side targeted the shoota boys with a similar result, the slugga boy nob faced an angry wolf lord, and died quickly, putting Alaric and Thor in a good position to charge to shootaz next turn. Player turn 4: 2-2 with the Shootaz and sluggaz dug in they firmly held their objectives, I still had the grey hunters holding my objective back field, with the lone wolf guard and priest holding the middle Sanctum. Ork Turn 5: with two units pinned down on their objectives the Orks had nothing to do at all.... Space Wolf Turn 5: Thor and Alaric made for the Shoota boyz, while Thengir went up stairs to fire off some lightning, in the shooting phase the Sluggaz went to ground again suffering 3 casualties to Long Fangs And Thengir powers, the shoota boyz risked not ducking, this paid off as none were slain every missile and heavy bolter round wide! Disaster! Thor and Alaric Failed their Charge! And were left out in the open....... Player Turn 5: 2-2 not many troops left on either side in perfect positions so not much change here..... Ork Turn 6: The Ork player is good with guessing ranges and decided he could win the game! Adjusting his Shootaz he guessed right, the shootaz opened fire on the lone Wolf Guard; two Rokkits struck him killing him instantly! If only id left Alaric with him for some stealth goodness. Space Wolf Turn 6: The dice gods deserted me yet again as Alaric and Thor once again rolled double 1’s on their terrain tests meaning I’d need a 6 to reach them in the assault Phase...... once more the long fangs let rip the shootaz suffered light casualties as did the sluggaz suffering no wounds so wouldn’t break this turn.... In combat Alaric and Thor only rolled a 5! Just an inch shy of getting up two floors to the shootaz! I needed a Turn 7! Player Turn 6: 1-2 the Orks were now back in the lead after slaying my Blood Claws Wolf Guard and my lord unable to climb ruins, dice gods decided the taunt me by giving me a 7th turn! Ork Turn 7: the shootaz let rip at Thor and Alaric, gunning down Alaric but Thor shrugged off all the damage. Space Wolf Turn 7 Thor Made it up to the next floor, but needed to make it to combat to contest the objective that was still two floors above him..... The sluggaz again came under fire but cover halted the worse of the damage, Thor now made a desperate bid to get into combat rolling a 3! Just enough to make it in! 5 dead shoota boyz later and they were running! And kept running! End result: 1-1 a Draw! so there ya have it! thats how you deal with a large quantity of greenskins! now drink up! my manly prowess requires I drink all o' you under the table!
