Chooser Suggestions

Greetings Brothers and the few sisters around...

I am looking for good suggestions for choosers of the slain for my two Rune Priests. I haven't had the time to get into converting much and most of my shopping must be done online due to work schedules. Are there models that you would suggest over others?

I am looking for something either fantasy or medieval, and not horribly expensive at the same time. I want them to look good once painted but at this rate they may not be painted for some time. Unfortunately most of the companies out there are a bit shy, and for good reason, about giving scale references for some of their work and browsing the GW catalog gives me a case of the "ooh! Shiny!" after a few minutes. :D

Thanks in advance...

I'd love to help ya with that buddy, but what exactly are you leaning towards for inspiration? Do you want like a servo-skull or a ghost-like model or what?

Hmmm... you know what would be cool? A floating holographic image of a hot female Valkyrie. Maybe made from a transparent resin model or something.

that sin one is cool but bits are a no go at GW and bits shop dont have them most of the time.

Back in the days GW did do bits sales (and tried to sell you a pebble made of pewer for 1.50) i ordered the Torquemada Coteaz eagle, mounted it on the tree that comes with the wolflord wolf from mythicast.

But alas these days are long gone

Hmm... those Razorwings have potential. Thank you Arez.

As far as other selections go I am interested in either animal or female fantasy choosers. I follow a slightly less beaten path so going with something more Valkrye esqe would be very cool. I have seen some models out there that may work, but I am afraid the size will be way off.

@Schert... nice idea, but was wanting something 3d. Might want to see about getting some of those for effect markers though. Hmm...

At the moment I have 2 rune priests to include Stormcaller, but will probably be adding more models for variety and the like. Keep the suggestions coming. They are helping a fair bit. I will have to shop some of the bits sites and see what I can find. The sign one would be cool, but I have no use for the rest of the model.

I use this guy:

There's nothing like a naked woad-painted Celtic nutter holding a severed head aloft to intimidate the <_< out of your enemies. And you can't kill him. And he can see everything.

Did you mean Njal Stormcaller or the spell Storm Caller? If it's the former, ignore the following, but if not...

Stormcaller is a very specialized and circumstantial spell. Without knowing what your other 3 spells are, I would recommend not making it a staple spell for your army, and only use it on occasion (or when you have the luxury of Njal's presence).

@Tsavong Lah - that is horrifying, manipulative, and well-played.

I've been tempted to use the razorwings, but I can't stand seeing wires or those clear plastic stems, so I avoid anything "flying" except land speeders. Eventually, I intend to make atleast 2x "valkyrie" women either kneeling or standing all sentinel-like, painted to look as though shielded by an energy field to maintain indestructibleness.

However, I'm currently in the process of sculpting my own raven-styled CotS from GS to put on ruins, etc, as well as placing matching birds on my RPs shoulders. One of them will be plucking the ocular lense from a de-activated servo-skull as it's perched upon it. The other.. I'm open to suggestions other than "ruins" or "fence posts", etc.

The other bird may simple sit there and intensively stare at the enemy <_<

I was referring to Njal. I tend to use Tempest or Hurricane more often, but thanks for the insight. I would be interested in seeing your work. Looking forward to pics if you decide to post them. I may very well see if I can work something out for one of the Razorwings if I go that route to hide the flying base a bit or at least minimalize it. The Celt warrior is an idea, but maybe not in keeping with what I have in mind.

I made a drunken space wolf sitting against some kegs holding a mug leaning on his arm holding a plasma pistol.

Used the legs from a landspeeder passenger, dwarf hand with mug and then space wolf bits for the rest.
