Well I've been asked to do this by a fair few people so here it is :D

This will show you how to achieve the Yellow Armour I have used on my Imperial Fists...

So here goes.....

1) Undercoat using Grey Spray Primer...

2) A slightly watered down layer of Golden Yellow, just slop it on over all the armour areas, just make sure it doesn't pool too much...

3) Slightly watered down wash of Gryphonne Sepia

4) Bleached Bone highlights.....now these are very quick! Literally just put the paint on all of the top edges and areas....the top of the kneepad, top of the helmet, top of the arms, backpacks, back of the legs, shoes etc....it'll look messy at first but once it's all done it'll look good.

5) Weathering- Take a normal sponge (mine was a washing up sponge ripped into pieces) and some Badab Black. Put some black on a palette and dab the sponge in it, get rid of the excess so there's only a little bit left on the sponge, now just randomly sponge this over the whole Marine. Once you're satisifed, change colour to Bestial Brown and repeat. You should end up with something like this....

And that's it :). That's how I achieve my yellow, now it's up to you how you do your details.

My Marines are....

1) Black Trim with Mithril Silver Damage

2) Gold areas= Bestial Brown, Shining Gold, Gryhponne Sepia, Mithril Silver.

Hope that all make sense, just comment or PM me if you want any more information or are unclear about something...

Hi Cosmic,

I said this in the PM I send you - but I love this tutorial so much.

Never painted yellow en-mass before as I've utterly hated trying to paint small bits of yellow. This tutorial makes it easy!

I know it's taken me a while to get photos up (last spoke to you in November) but my camera's been on the fritz. These are two Imperial Fists I painted up for a small 2nd Edition campaign my group played in November. (Yes, the techmarine conversion was shamelessly 'borrowed' from you!)

I had to improvise as I only have devlan mud and not sepia, but I still like the results.

Cheers for posting this tutorial.

Hi Huberticus.

I'm glad you've found a yellow recipe you like ;) they're looking good.

Haha as soon as I saw the Techmarine I had to laugh! Just remember where you got the idea from ;) :P

Aye, I'm like an Ork Mekboy when it comes to techmarines - if I sees something shiny and interestin', I'll nick if it isn't nailed down try and have a go at making it myself :tu:

Yeah, I have one slight problem with your recipe - you've made me want to paint an IF army! The last thing I need is more distractions away from my Iron Hands and Astral Claws! :P
