Honda
+++ POTENTIAL SPOILER ALERT +++ POTENTIAL SPOILER ALERT +++ Ok, then. So I'm reading PB and there's a mention during the assault on the Quitetude, where Abnett describes the Space Wolf terminators as "hulking" I believe, but even more interesting, is that he described their armor as "burnished". So, if you were reading along and got to that point, what mental image would you come up with? metal armor? For those who have read the book, could it be a reasonable assumption that SW termies PH have a metallic finish (I'm thinking bronze) like the Iron Hands Morlocks? I'm looking at different ideas and possibilities for my assaulting Prospero Burns force. Something like this could end up being "counts as" Paladins, besides being a hoot to model. I'm very curious as to your thoughts, Brothers. Cheers, Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/240204-dan-abnett-makes-my-brain-bleedideas/ Share on other sites
DarKnight
I just took it to mean that the armor was very shiny and polished but still the grey of space wolf armor. Valkyrion
burnished past participle, past tense of bur·nish (Verb) Verb: 1.Polish (something, esp. metal) by rubbing: "burnished armor". 2.Enhance or perfect (something such as a reputation or a skill). So their burnished armour is either polished, perfect, or both. Grimdarkness
Minor spoiler alert. In F.H Kor Pharen the word bearers first captain is described as haven a dull metalic cast to his terminator armour. It sounded to me like it was almost unpainted bare metal at least that's what my brain pictured when i read it. So it could be that the wolfs armour is a metalic shade. MagicMan
It could just mean it has burnished metal details. Like the models do. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/240204-dan-abnett-makes-my-brain-bleedideas/#findComment-2899155 Share on other sites
TennisBall
It means polished. Burnishers are smooth tools that are used to smooth metal to make them shine. Honda
So maybeeee...the answer is "both". If you look at Leman's armor on the cover of PB, it looks metallic AND grey. Maybe that's the approach I should take. I'll think on that some more as that bit is a little ways away. Anyone every painted something like this? I'm thinking a dark metallic grey, maybe a mix of one of the foundation colors and Boltgun. Thoughts?
