[Commission] Blood Angels Army

Today I was working on Lemartes. He's nearly done; just the basing and varnishing. I may make some attempts at some freehand text on the pistol and chest scrolls, but they're pretty small areas...

The death company are now more or less done, just the foliage to add to the bases and varnishing to go. I'll probably do that in a batch with another squad...

Your Mephiston is a great update ... Decent GS work, but it is your painting that really shines ... A little criticism on the pose though, his left foot is out of line with the pose. He looks pigeon toed with the foot pointing slightly to the right. This is likely what some have keyed in on when they said the pose was off.

Nah, people were complaining about the right (back) foot. Even *I* don't like the left one, and it's pretty much the main thing on the sculpt (other than being 'cleaner') that I'd change. Thanks for the compliment though... Ego... swelling...

I've got a potential job lined up for later in the year where I'll get to do some more sculpting, so that should be an opportunity to retry a few things.

Wow, awesome DC squad, the poses are very agressive and the painting is perfect as always. Really like the power sword and the one with the red shoulder pad is my favourite. Mind you share your recipe for the white used on the BA symbols? Its seems white with a wash of shadow grey or something like that? Thanks in advance.

Gosh! Painting an entire army to this standard must take you ages!

My own miniatures take me 4-6 hours a man - and I believe we're about the same level of painting skills, judging from what I saw here.

Thumbs up, brother, a pity you and I live in different countries (not to myself: must spend semester abroad in Nottingham!) :/

Finished the basing off on these today, added blue glow to the jump packs by client request.

Work on the 15 Assault Marines (3 squads of 5 lunatics each). I've got a nice technique for primarily airbrushed red now. The middle marine (one with the detail shots) was the test model. A few extra stages in there that I don't think are needed.

Main lesson learned: Vallejo German Red-Brown primer rocks. Hard.

Amazing tone of red wynterdyne very vibrant, and definitely the primers from vallejo are awesome, i use the three basics grey, white and black they give a perfect and smooth coverage, no more spray primer issues of any kind. I have to test some of their color primers.

BTW what colour did you use for the shadows/armour lining? And if you dont mind how do you paint the purity seals and badges, im stuck and i can´t get a good result. Thanks in advance and keep the good work coming

The insignia on these will be decals, for consistency and speed. The purity seals will probably be red, as I don't really like other colours of 'wax'.

The lining is either devlan mud or badab black or thin VMC black. The red itself is built straight up with glazes of GW Blood Red and then mixing VMC (Panzer Aces) New Wood into it. Perhaps a touch of VMC(PA) Weathered wood for a stronger highlight. There's no shade as such other than the primer.

Thanks for all the recipes winterdyne, you are really helpful, but i explain me bad what i meant with purityseal and badges was the scrolls painted in cream and the scrolls in the shoulderpads (sorry for my bad english :o. Keep the good work, and out of topic, the painting in your Ultramarine Venerable Dread is out of this world... (i lurk a bit in your cmon gallery :) )
