winterdyne
Ah, those wil be: VMC (Panzer Aces) New Wood, VMC (Panzer Aces) Light Mud, VMC Ivory highlights. The Panzer Aces paints are quite thick, high coverage. Similar to Foundation paints in a lot of ways. And very useful natural colours. You'd get a very similar result with a mix of Khemri Brown and Deneb stone, then Bleached bone, then a mix of Bleached Bone and White. winterdyne
First squad of three done. Damn decals took FOREVER to set properly. I still see the odd crinkle. By comparison I freehanded the skulls on the kneepads in about 25 minutes. http://www.winterdyne.co.uk/maz/images/commissions/victor/bloodangels/assault1_1_done.jpg http://www.winterdyne.co.uk/maz/images/commissions/victor/bloodangels/assault1_2_done.jpg http://www.winterdyne.co.uk/maz/images/commissions/victor/bloodangels/assault1_3_done.jpg http://www.winterdyne.co.uk/maz/images/commissions/victor/bloodangels/assault1_4_done.jpg http://www.winterdyne.co.uk/maz/images/commissions/victor/bloodangels/assault1_sgt_done.jpg http://www.winterdyne.co.uk/maz/images/commissions/victor/bloodangels/assault1_all_done.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/240227-commission-blood-angels-army/page/3/#findComment-2989088 Share on other sites
winterdyne
*groan* Deliberate mistake. Honest. I'll be repainting those kneepads. :-( Maybe. Depends on the client. Something Wycked
Wait, what? What's wrong with the kneepads? The client wanted numbers on them or something? winterdyne
Nah, the skull on black is the designator for 1st squad. Assault squads are (Codex Astartes) squads 7 and 8. As there are to be 3 Assault squads in this force, I reckon having a tactical double is a stretch that makes sense. Hopefully to the client, too, as I'm quite pleased with those skulls... earthen
Id love to see a more complete painting tutorial! The helmet yellow is so vibrant, and what do you use for the eye glow and metallics? winterdyne
The helmet: Iyanden Darksun, Gyphonne Sepia wash. Highlight with VMC Flat Yellow, VMC Light Yellow, VMC Ice Yellow for extremes. No mixes, just layer it on. The eyes: Pain the lens DA green, highlight lens and edge highlight with Scorpion green. Highlight lens again twice with a little bit of white added to the green each time. Each highlight more towards the middle of the lens. Doghouse
Fantastic stuff mate, I'm deeply jealous of your client who is getting some fantastic models. Really love the base work, stands out from the model but at the same time doesn't draw the eye from the models themselves. winterdyne
The images above have been replaced post varnish. :-) Literally, the best matt I've ever used. Soooo happy. winterdyne
Red: Vallejo German Red/Brown PU Primer. Zenithal up with a bit of VMA Scarlet Red and mix in some VMC Panzer Aces New wood. Didn't really do much, could probably skip that, but it provides a bit of a guide. Devlan mud in recesses. Badab black in really deep areas. Layer GW Blood red. Layer mixes of GW Blood Red and VMC PA New Wood. Edge highlight with VMC PA New Wood. Glaze here and there with Baal red if it needs it. Yellow: Iyanden Darksun Gryphonne Sepia wash. Highlight with VMC Flat Yellow Highlight with VMC Light Yellow Highlight with VMC Ice Yellow Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/240227-commission-blood-angels-army/page/3/#findComment-2990368 Share on other sites

winterdyne
Another 5 man squad done. Sorry about the crappy purple/pink background on the group shot, I need to make up a new backsheet, but my printer's out of ink. Some misbehaviour from the chapter symbol decals, which will need a glaze of the base colour and revarnish here and there. Anyway, pics: http://www.winterdyne.co.uk/maz/images/commissions/victor/bloodangels/assault2_all_done.jpg http://www.winterdyne.co.uk/maz/images/commissions/victor/bloodangels/assault2_sgt_done.jpg http://www.winterdyne.co.uk/maz/images/commissions/victor/bloodangels/assault2_1_done.jpg http://www.winterdyne.co.uk/maz/images/commissions/victor/bloodangels/assault2_2_done.jpg http://www.winterdyne.co.uk/maz/images/commissions/victor/bloodangels/assault2_3_done.jpg http://www.winterdyne.co.uk/maz/images/commissions/victor/bloodangels/assault2_4_done.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/240227-commission-blood-angels-army/page/3/#findComment-3022460 Share on other sites
