hey all

back again with another army this time round its gonna be a Black Templars force...

I've had them sat in a box for far to long so i thought it was about time they got some attention (there all "reclaimed" ebay mini's as per :-)

looking to build around 2000pts worth

here's an example of how they looked before any work was started they were mostly to a nice enough table top standard :-)

and here’s the test mini’s

the main problem I'm having is trying to work out squad sizes........ should i go for 10 man with BP/CS or smaller to max special weapons......??

any BT players wanna help me out?

Great work on these esteemed descendants of Dorn!

If you want your force to spew holy amount of ranged attacks, 5 man squads with a special and a heavy.

For an assaulty force, a common ratio is 7 initiates 2 neophytes and an IC, or 7 initiated and 3 neophytes.

Point for point they'll kill about as much as an initiate but are ten points and they have an appetite for lascannons, and power weapons...

I hope this helps, but if you need some more in-depth tutelage, pop on over to the BT subforum! I'm sure my brethren will enjoy your work as well as answer any queries you may have.

Awesome looking BTs you have there. As has already been said, 7-8 Initiates and 2-3 Neos is usually best for a CC Squad. For my ranged squads I use 6 initiates with a special and heavy. Usually Las/Plas or Las/Flamer. And theyre backed up by a RB with TLLC.

cheers all :-)

here's the rest Initiates for the big CC squad I'm thinking large blob squad of these with a couple of support squads of bolters for the main troops (will move the plasma gun to one of the support squads and replace him with a melta)

Liking these quite a lot.

Especially the freehand on the tops of the jump packs. that half eagle will be "borrowed" at some point.

The fact that this appears to have taken you only 2 days so far is also pretty impressive, and I consider myself fairly quick (when suitably inspired... :-P)

Let me just say that I really dig your painting. Very crisp and some really good freehand work.

My problem with this squad is their shoulder pads. IIRC, the Crux Terminatus is on the left shoulder. Even if you didnt want it there, the fact that they are not all uniform is kind of messing with my eyes.

But it really is a trivial complaint considering how nicely painted they are. Looking forward to everything else.

Looking really good as always Dave, only a minor niggle for me (and it might just be the picture) is the Templar transfer on the right hand side of the Vindicator may need a slight touch up - looks like theres a little bit of the film showing around the top

Hi

Nice models you got there :P

I especially like the effect you have on your vehicles - the Vindicator. It really compliments the black color and totally avoids the often flat coloring surface a lot of black armies get out there.

How do you obtain the shades/coloring?? :(
