My new kit bashed Marshal

Can't say I'm a huge fan of the bitz selection, too many wings and not enough crosses for my taste. However, the paintjob is absolutely top notch. The gold in particular is especially well done, something I've been tinkering with lately with varying degrees of success (or failure, to be more accurate) :P

The one thing I would recommend is to work on correcting the SIGISMUND title on the shield banner. The M is sort of lopsided, and the N and D are leaning the opposite way they seem to need to. Of course, I know what a royal pain crap like that can be, and if it were me I would likely just let it slide myself :D

Thanks for the comments guys. I agree with you Marshal Laeroth, I thought it was a little odd not having a cross on the shoulders as well... I just don't know how I would do it given those shoulders. Perhaps a smaller than normal black cross on the gold section? Or maybe just the bottom half of a white cross on the black section (so that it would appear as though the gold was covering the top half)? As it stands right now he has 4 Templar crosses on him (one on each arm and a small one on each shin).

What are your guy's thoughts on the counts as lightning claw? Too out there?

I think youve pulled off the counts as LC pretty nicely.

On the subject of crosses, it does look odd not having one on the shoulders. However, I dont think painting half of one will look very good. Maybe adding a small heraldry shield on there with a cross(theres a few included in the BT upgrade box), would solve the issue IMO.

If anyone was interested on how I did the gold here is a brief description:

I used a paint called Iridescent Bronze (Fine) which is made by a company called Golden Fluid Acrylics, I purchased mine at the local Blick Art Store (I'm sure other art stores would have it as well). First I base coat in chaos black then I put on a single layer of the Iridescent Bronze. After that dries I apply a heavy Badab Black wash which I try to push into the crevices as much as possible. Once that dries I do a fine highlight around the edges with the Iridescent Bronze... annnnd that's pretty much it.

I've included a link to a place that you can buy the Iridescent Bronze from below:

So outside of the shoulder cross suggestion does anyone else have any ideas for how I can improve him / improve upon my painting? I'd be especially interested in hearing what some of our more advanced painters have to say as I'm constantly trying to improve my technique lol.

Hi,

I really like your painting and colour scheme, though the guy doesn't strike me as a a Marshall when I see him. Maybe add some more bling or scriptures or some sort of distinctive feature...

Regarding the (missing) cross on shoulder pad, the idea of showing only the bottom half of it is quite good. You could also carve the top out of the golden part and stick a whole cross on it.

Now, as to what cross to use, I think I would use a cross that is found on top of standards in the BT sprue. It might be too big for a shoulder pad, but you can trim it off with a sharp blade to make it smaller.

Again, congrats for your really nice model!

Keep up the good work
