Warhead01 Posted November 4, 2011 Author Share Posted November 4, 2011 Well... Ok then, here it is. With the fall here and the winter on the way, the wolves are on my mind again. That being the case I have been spending some more time on my army. I have started tho get the bases done and am ready to venture forth in to "decal land". But! the reason for this post was a sort of surprise return to activity (hopefully) and to do that I have planned to build and paint a Contemptor. I have ordered it and just received an email back from forge world. they say it may take up to 14 days to arrive. I ordered it on 22 Oct. So any day now! A small return to the forum with pic and questions.... and what have you. I am expecting to be ready to show off some massive progress starting the weekend of 11 Nov! I have been weathering my vehicles and now will be messing with all the finishing up work the get the wolves finally done. ( only taken about 2 years?) And so the murder make returns! But I'd suggest using a hand drill, as it gives you more control and precision, than a vibrating dremel would unless you had the piece clapped down firmly. Your weathering on your rhino is impressive. --EDIT-- I used the citadel hobby drill, and it works well for the bolters/bolt-pistols. I should have a lot more to show for myself. this weekend has been given to the troops, with luck next will be the new dred and being that i will have 4 days off I should find the time to work on the vehicles. Maverik, if you have seen the youtube stuff then just wait! a lot of that rusting will be cleaned up , Icons and then weathering! should be very nice. I am hoping to get a game in some time in March... so I had best get to work. ...and then I remembered .......my drop pods... lol..... Wulfebane Posted November 6, 2011 Share Posted November 6, 2011 Get yourself some matte acrylic medium (Liquitex is what I use) and apply some thin coats over your decals. This will smooth them out a bit better, coat them in a clear acrylic paint so as to help appear like it's a part of the shoulderpad and not simply sitting on top of it, and take away the shine from the glossy finish the decals have. I am using future flor shine as a smoothing medium and micro sol once the decal is in place. and repeat.. then once they look good a little more :cuss to seal them in. Still need a matte sealer. But here is a look at how it's all going. and these all have the decals now. Still working on the wolve guard. but I can't rush drying time..not very well anyway... Still working out how to best get the long fangs done with out cheating. (Which arrived with my contemptor, yesterday) Reading the Space Wolves contemptor, well... I wish I had known what options weren't available to us before I ordered. I ordered the conversion beamer not knowing that their would be no listing for us to use it.. guess I just needed to bitch a little, wasted money and all that could have been a twinlinked lass or something.. oh well. Strangely enough My group might let me use it any way. Just wish I could have had it as an option. I will get the resin parts washed this evening. I can't wait for this weekend! I am thinking "wolfin contimptor" but he will need a suitably dark name to fit his dark saga. so not really a wolfin but nearly, with berserk tendencies. The carapace missile launcher will be a little out of place. maybe he was a lone wolf, left over form a long fang pack. but he was so horrific in seeking his end. After a catastrophic fight he yet lived. His body destroyed but his rage still hungers. The wolf lord had him interned so he could again seek a glorious end on another day.
