Land Raider Destroyed by Necrons

Hey guys! I entered this over at BoLS for the wreck competition. It was done very quickly (really only dry brushing with cheap acrylics). It is my first foray into OSL and weathering powders. CnC very much welcome.

I love the idea, and overall it's a cool diorama. However, what's letting you down is the lack of any sort of detail painting on the Land Raider. There are lenses, lights, and sensors on that baby just screaming to get some paint. Then maybe some chapter heraldry on the side appropriately weathered up. Right now it's a cool diorama. With just a little bit of work, it could be a stunning one.

Cheers!

Great work.

I do not agree with Brother Captain Sharp about lacking of lenses, lights and heraldry . They would seem nice on a model-sure. Not on a burned out tank- when they go up in flames ,boy they really go - and the first thing that goes on fire(along with ammo and fuel) is electronics and lights- so I wouldn't paint those. Same goes for markings.

Cheers

I like how you've modelled each individual damage result that led up to it being destroyed by standard Gauss Flayers and Disruption fields - to kill a Land Raider, you have to inflict Immobilised and between three and five Weapon Destroyed results, so it's unlikely that there would be any paint left on it by the time it's been hit by that many Flayer blasts, which would strip paint before they started damaging anything.

As to those who can't work it out - The guy's wearing black armour, has a white shoulder pad, and is crawling out of a Land Raider Crusader. He's obviously, without a doubt, a Black Templar.

Lenses and lights still have color even when they're off. I wasn't meaning get glowing lenses going or anything. And I think a half-burnt off BT symbol would be awesome on the side.

It's all personal preference though. To each their own.
