Aurellian

Son of Rawl

Well, despite being a huge AD-B fanboy I forgot about the whole thing. Yeah, despite all the BL emails. That's how crappy my memory is nowadays. :D

Luckily for me though, as I opened my computer today there were still Silver copies left. Ordered one along with Lord of the Night. I'm hoping all these heretical tomes won't convert me into Chaos. Even Space Marine seems to think I'm a Chaos Marine since 80% of the time I'm thrown to the Chaos side of things.

Gold all sold out according to the website (big red letters and everything) but, Emperor's bones, I managed to just buy a Silver! Woo!

Very pleased, considering I missed out the flag from Cyrox and the BL twitter last night. I just bolted over to the BL site the moment I saw the new messages here.

Currently 582 Silvers reminaing in stock too.

565 Silver left, and we are now +15 hours since release time.

maybe all that demand pushed some people away last month :/

And think how many more silvers would be available if all those people that wanted gold had bought it in the first place. It would be a nice statistic to see how many people have both silver and gold.

Maybe. But I think you're overestimating how well (and how fast) books sell in general. 6,000 direct sale copies of any book (outside Harry Potter) - in 24+ hours - is a hell of a lot. Especially one that's 1) Only sold on the company's website (not Amazon, or in stores), 2) Not purchasable by all traditional methods of online payment (no PayPal, f'rex), and 3) Very expensive.

In this case, if it sells out in a day or three, I think BL will be incredibly pleased with themselves.

Selling ~5,500 copies of a book in under a day is astonishing! Having bought both Aurelian and Promethean Sun, I'd like to say a thank-you to Black Library for sorting out the ordering system. By all accounts, it was the bank that was having trouble with the demand, rather than the BL servers; so they've clearly learned their lesson from PS.

Also, congratulations, A D-B: must be a good feeling! ;)

Apologises maybe i should of been a bit clearer, ( brain thinking faster than fingers again)

I should of been more specific i meant server demand and failure last month, maybe pushed some people away. Many people myself included sat up late that evening a few weeks ago waiting for the BL website to respond, all because we like your novels and the series as a whole. I did it for Prometium Sun as well, but thee BL website didnt quite suffer as bad as it did for Aurelian.

I am impressed that a novel can sell so many copies through its limited "front end" of a single website, its a rightous success, BL and GW should be pleased, but i think Aaron you do yourself a diservice, you should be pretty pleased too with such a spectacular response from your fans across Terra buying your book, and in process nearly bringing the BL website to its knees (twice). I dont think many of the BL authors can claim the kudos(insert: dubious honour) of having lots of fans crashing their publishers website ;) ;) in the names of getting their hands on a book you wrote. As well as seeing that your book is so well liked amongst the fan base, just from the snippets released on the BL website.

TFH is one of the most popular and loved books and constantly talked about novels of the whole HH series, Aurelian i look forward to following on from TFH success. Im suprised that BL/GW didnt see it coming in all honesty, even with the price tag, they must have thought it was going to be so popular.

Personally ive got a copy of Gold, and im looking forward to getting it and reading it. although alas Helsreach will always take pride of place on the book shelf as THE book on templar's kicking Xeno hide. ;) :D

I have to say I am still a bit disappointed in black library...

I was on their website at noon sharp and accidentelly put two copies in my basket. I am not a previous customer, so I had to enter my info during checkout. In the time it took to enter my info and take one book out of my basket (I am not selfish, just wanted one gold copy for myself), Aurelian was sold out and somehow out of my basket.

That made me irate! I had a copy of aurelian in my basket (two to start with) and was checking out, entering my card info! Oh well I'll have to snipe one on ebay for a trillion times it's origional selling price.

Talk about life not being fair... and I was so looking forward to reading this book, especially after just finishing The First Heretic.

I am so glad I logged in early, at 12:50 EST I thought "hmm I wonder,...." well with server lag I barely got my Gold.

I hate them marketing these this way. Just sell the book for crying out loud. The fans want it, ands the money is just waiting for BL. I dont get....blah
