DC armour

After seeing the DC terminators in the hall of honour plus related comments, it got me wondering about what happens with the armour when they fall?

From what I can remember (no sources to hand), once the chaplains have taken them away following the decent into the black rage, the marine's armour is painted in the DC design.

So as armour is considered to be a relic of the chapter, is it recovered from the battlefield after they've fallen to be given to another marine?

And if continuing this hypothesis, could this then have an effect on the new wearer of the armour i.e. increasing the likelyhood of the marine to succumb to the rage, and this may be a reason for the accelerated/increased chances of a fleshtearer falling to the rage as they have less resources to work with?

What do you think?

Thanks

I assume it would be recovered whenever possible, as would the armor of any fallen brother. The bodies as well so they could be properly lain to rest if the situation allowed. I've never heard a reference to wearing DC armor making a fall more likely. No clear reason I can think of, but shadows in the warp and such happen in the 40k universe so it would be hard to say. My uninformed guess is that a cleansing ritual by the chaplains/priests/librarians would clean it up to chapter specs.

Personally, I have made all my Death Company Regulars of the most basic armor i got. No bling, no adornaments and no fancy fancy.

(Well, that aint the whole truth, I do smack some some Purity Seals for the honor of the marines. Thats seems only fair..)

Well, my point is that when the Marine "falls" the chapter change his armor for an more cermonial armor.

Now, i DO see the fails with this thought, but im still tryin to get my fluff togheter..

Interesting idea, soulblight - but I dont think they replace the armour, they repaint it. Given the marines state of mind, they are also allwoed to fight with the weaponry they are most familiar with - and from some sources, it is suggested that marines grow used to teh armour they are wearing and how it functions, learning to accomodate any slight foibles - an equivalent might be wearing an 'off the peg' suit, or a hand-made, made-to-measure suit. The latter will fit far better and be far more comfortable than the former unless you are miraculously exactly the same size as the original dummy... I prefer to have my marines wearing every honour they have ever won as they go into their last battle...
