Bat33.1
Update time. I've finished my MKIV Dread, plus Valthax, Tac Squad and the 5 man Assault Squad so lots of pics including some views of the whole army as it stands today. Olis
Bingo bango bongo, jobs a good 'un. Besides the chapter symbols (the Tyrant's Claw) needing a little black and white attention, imho, there's nothing to say. Nice one. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/240507-astral-claws/page/3/#findComment-2949420 Share on other sites

Besides the chapter symbols (the Tyrant's Claw) needing a little black and white attention, imho, there's nothing to say. Nice one. :) Thanks :) I know what you mean about the Tyrant's Claw shoulder pads and vehicle mouldings and I did start off painting them in the correct colours but it wasn't working very well for me, mainly down to my painting style/ability, so I went back and switched to a simpler finish that I could achieve consistent results with. I'm still torn about the Termies aquilla's and considering painting them gold, the white while canon is a little flat looking, but overall I'm pleased with how these are coming along. They ain't gonna win any demons but for tabletop use I'm happy  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/240507-astral-claws/page/3/#findComment-2949504 Share on other sites
Subtle Discord
Many people wish their army was half this nice. As soon as you 'step back' any of the (very) minor flaws just vanish in to the overwhelming awesome. It's the power of a fully painted army at work - the whole is always greater then the sum of it's parts. Mostly metallic armies can be harder than many people think, but you've nailed it beautifully. Really well done. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/240507-astral-claws/page/3/#findComment-2949516 Share on other sites
Tyrannicide
That just might be one of the best FW Dreadnoughts I've ever seen. Really, the battle damage and gore-slicked claw combine to make one helluva realistic scene. Very nice work, man! alejandrinus
Very nice army, the MKIV Dread is perfect, really like how the weathering goes with the feet to the best very realistic, and really like the assault with mixed jumpacks . Waiting for more PJ1933 :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/240507-astral-claws/page/3/#findComment-2950243 Share on other sites
daemonclaw
stunning dread :) maybe the lighting but the eyeslits on the combimelta boy look a little off Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/240507-astral-claws/page/3/#findComment-2950266 Share on other sites
blackbabyjesus
I'll second what Daemonclaw here has said, stunning dread, hell, stunning army! The eyes on mr combimelta do look a little off though. Speaking of the combimelta, have you just stuck a meltagun end onto a bolter?! If so, it looks awesome, and I'll be copying it a lot! Really well done. Thank you, while the techniques are simple enough there are quite a lot of layers of detail to get to the finished minis. That just might be one of the best FW Dreadnoughts I've ever seen. Really, the battle damage and gore-slicked claw combine to make one helluva realistic scene. Very nice work, man! I totally agree ! Im not a fan of gore on minis normally but Ajax is just fantastic. Thanks again batu and I hope I can inspire others to try some of the techniques I've used here. The gore is just Tamiya clear red with a second layer adding a touch of black ink. Very nice army, the MKIV Dread is perfect, really like how the weathering goes with the feet to the best very realistic, and really like the assault with mixed jumpacks . Waiting for more PJ1933 ;) Soon, hopefully, but as I've just got my copy of 'The Doom of Mymeara' I feel some Space Wolves love coming as the hairy ones have been neglected for a while now ;) stunning dread  maybe the lighting but the eyeslits on the combimelta boy look a little off I'll second what Daemonclaw here has said, stunning dread, hell, stunning army! I think you are right I'll have another look at the eyes as I didn't notice it until the pics were done. The combi melta is a FW combi flamer from the FW character set and a BA infernus pistol pinned together so feel free to copy...
