I did go for Sg pack and I wonder now what would be the most efficient way to run them. I just want to make a death star unit out of them so therefore there is all the fancy stuff: Originally 3 lc 1 th 4 ss + novice / for Vv I would use one Sg as pw+bp instead of priest. However I think that 3 ss could be enough and I should use one model with pw + pistol. Bt which one ? Inferno to get some ID's ? Or hand flamer to get rid of orks and eldars? Or plasma to get some wounds on those termies ? Moreover do you think 3ss are ok for them to make it until T3+ ? JamesI Posted October 21, 2011 Share Posted October 21, 2011 Personally, I'm not a big fan of the really expensive 5 man VV or HGs (well HGs are limited to 5 men, but I like them a bit cheaper than most). In a 5 man unit, I don't think more than 2 SS would really be needed, but in the case of VV I'd pretty much always want to bring 2 extra bodies than 3 storm shields. Look to play some wound allocation games as well. Sprinkle in meltabombs and the like to make every model different. So in some combats you might be able to dump all the power weapon hits on the same guy. JamesI Posted October 21, 2011 Share Posted October 21, 2011 Personally, I never use Plasmapistols. Bolt pistols or infernus pistols are all I go with. A unit with a jump pack can mitigate the 6 inch range of the infernus, and infernus are in all was (other than range) better than plasma. For an HG consider meltaguns. Meltagun in one hand, Powerfist or Lightning claw for the other. HF just to make sure i get rid of orks and stuff... I would go for melta but this time i want to have HG/VV unit i can switch so i dont want to use melta just becouse of this. Brother Nathan Posted October 22, 2011 Share Posted October 22, 2011 if on vanguard, if you land in range for those pistols your hopefully going to charge so they wont get used if your doing things right. in hounour guard you should be delpoying on the feild and harder to get in pistol range here so you would be better with the cheaper more efficent versions of the guns. and though storm sheilds sound good, they help none whatsoever vs small arms weapons, they are just more expensive deaths.1/2 of them, 3 in my books is too many, and if your putting other cc weapons on them then when you get shot by plasma, youll put the wound on them thinking 3++ is better than nought, and then risk losing your special ccw. umm, yea guesss who wasnt impressed by vanguard...
