dispo39
Hey everybody, Just getting ready to kitbash myself a snazzy looking honour guard - thing is, I love the aesthetic of the banner bearer, but I'm not so sure of the points cost/effectiveness of a banner, be it chapter or company. Now, I'm thinking of coming up with a unique design, that way I can run either if I choose to do so; more likely leaning towards company, my honour guard being equipped with meltaguns and not melee weapons. The reason I'm considering this is the way I'm thinking of running the squad - deep striking between the two main assault squads whilst toting a plethora of melta shots. Now, how effective would the re-roll be in everyone staying put versus the point cost? What experience do you all have with banners? I mean, it's not like I plan on deep striking 25 marines right in the face of the enemy but... are there other uses I'm not considering? And a side note; if I do model a banner, I'm fairly certain there are no issues with the bearer rolling with a meltagun, right? Thanks in advance, Disposition Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/240713-honour-guard-and-banner-bearers/ Share on other sites
spec.ops
I would just model the banner on its own base. This way I can always add or take it away if later changed my mind on the list. dispo39
So essentially two seperate marines? Or you're proposing the banner stands on its own, propped against a rock or the like? I can't see a bearer leaving it unattended, fluffwise. JamesI
It is legal to arm 1 model with a meltagun and the banner. Heck, I once had a model with the banner i none hand, a power fist for the other hand, and a meltagun strapped to him. vharing
I am making a banner bearer for my 3rd company that has the company standard, a melta gun and a storm shield. Xenith
Just model the banner, dont pay the points, and never use its abilities. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/240713-honour-guard-and-banner-bearers/#findComment-2907647 Share on other sites
dispo39
Yeah, that's probably what's going to go down. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/240713-honour-guard-and-banner-bearers/#findComment-2907717 Share on other sites
vharing
If you do it that way model a spare guy as well, as tournament organizers may disallowed that. dispo39
That was something that crossed my mind.. I've never played in a tournament, but in the case where I would sign up for one I guess it would be worth noting.
