Since 6th Edition has been released (as well as the new chaos codex) and the additions of allies, I have decided to re-organize both my Iron Warriors and thier Dark Mechanicus allies. As for this army - Minions of the Shadow forge, I have decided that in game I will use either the Daemon codex or Dark Eldar codex (or both if I use allies) to represent them. Hence the 2 army lists bellow -_- (Also the good thing about some of the units, they can be used with either codex if I need to add some extra guys)

My Slaughterfiend uses the Talos kit as base with added legs, got the inspiration from the FW Blood Slaughterer

I got a fair bit of detail to sculpt on his lower body & need to add some trim to the Carapace. As well as doing the head, adding his right arm and beefing up his legs.

 

His left arm is made from a Talos Ichor injector wrist, tyranid Talon & some chainsword parts, needs a bit of sculpting

As for his right arm, I'm thinking about making a Furioso Dreadnought style power claw/grappling hook

 

Next are a couple of Flayer-kin made using metal WH Ghouls, gotta add combat stimm dispensers & sculpt on some other details too.

Lastly is a Venom Thrall (counts at a Lhamaean) I've had this little FW Servitor for ages and I couldn't resist converting him. Even though I'm not gonna use him till I make a Dark Skitarii Commander & his body Guard (Archon & his entourage)

Looks like a great start. What do you think you'll use as a base for your savage morticians? I'm going to make a dark mechanicus adept to go with each of my oblit squads but I'm kinda at a loss as to what to use.... :D Your thread is sure to give me some ideas.

@ Tanith Ghost - not sure what to use as the base yet, was thinking Haemonculi & some of the Iron brotherhood, but they are a bit skinny. I will probably scratch build their frames and ad various bionics & servo arms etc.

 

Just wait till you guys see my Harbringer & Subjugators Drones :(

 

Here’s a couple of updates on my Slaughterfiend, been out most of this week trying to find a new home, so updates are gonna be a little slow.

 

I've made its 2 other weapons - a "Twin-Linked Melta Lance" (TL Heat Lance) & an "Impaler" (Chain-Flails) influenced by the Blood Slaughterer with Impaler

The Melta Lance is made from 2 Chaos Meltaguns with extended barrels & Talos canisters. The Impaler is made from an IG Autocannon, Talos parts & plastic rod.

Also I recently got a lot of bits from Maxi-mini, Kromlech, Blight Wheel & Puppets War... mostly bionic bits etc. I must say that Maxi-mini & Blight Wheel are fantastic, very good quality :( However Kromlech & Puppets War aren’t so great, a couple of miss-cast items/flash. (I'll do a review of these parts soon)

 

Lastly I get paid Monday (along with a bit of a pay rise :)) so next week I shall be going to buy more stuff to build the rest of my 1,500 army, My shopping list will include some new Necron minis too ;)

Right today I thought I would post up a couple of concept sketches :devil:

 

First up is one of a Savage Mortician, gonna make this 1 out of a VC Cairn Wraith with some bionics, DE & Necron parts

Next up is my Subjugator Drone - this will be made out of a vertical Talos Carapace, Cronos Tentacles & random gubbins on the back.

I have now came up with a better name for my army (+ plus some fluff) - "Minions of the Shadow Forge" basically they are the creatures, soldiers and robots "made" in the Forge of my Iron Warriors Fortress on Medrengard - "Fortress Ironfist". Roth'gör (Warsmith Vlâdvar's Chief Techmarine) is Master of the Shadow Forge and along with Dark Magos Biologis Barröth Vex "The Tormentor" they create hundreds of untold monstrosity and biomechanical horrors.

 

Here’s some fluff about some of the units too.

 

Savage Morticians - Honsou the Half-breed isn't the only Warsmith who is in possession of these terrible biomechanical creatures, several are also enslaved to the service of Warsmith Vlâdvar.

 

Flayer-kin - These are very much like the Imperial Arco-Flagellants, but are much more freakish and mutated, as well as being armed with poisoned weapons and various other nasty implements.

 

Slaughterfiend - Dubbed the "mini-Blood Slaughterer" this fusion of a gene-bulked Space Marine slave and mechanical components is the ultimate killing machine. almost unstoppable and totally deadly in combat.

@ Nurglez - will be 1,500 to start off with, then will build it up to 2,000 & play test stuff. I wanna build an army I feel is gonna do well, but also have some of my fav concepts.

 

@ Raz - The Savage Mortician will get started once I buy a Cairn Wraith this Friday ;)

 

Sorry for the lack of updates this week, had a few late shifts and I have been scratch building some new legs, which has taken ages! I wasn't too keen on the Robogear legs, as they were a bit small & too close to the upper body. The new ones now look much more like the FW Blood Slaughter, made them using different sized plastic rod/tubes & some Wheel hubcaps.

The legs aren’t the only things I've changed... I've lowered the Melta Lance, cleaned up the upper torso, started sculpting detail on the waist section, added teeth & Mandibles to the head and repositioned the left arm.

Next is to finish sculpting all detail on the waist, head and left arm. As well as sculpting some trim & adding rivets to the carapace, as it’s a little plain.

 

Also as you can see with the new legs, its grown a bit taller and looks more menacing :P So here it is next to the Venom Thrall.

I plan on getting this done before the end of the week, as well as finishing up 10 Flayer-kin. As on Friday I wanna buy some new stuff, on my list is the Cairn Wraith, some Ogre Bulls, a Ghost Ark and maybe some wracks :D Also I wanna get some stuff from FW at some point too!

Yes I read the whole thread. It is a dark mechanicus army using the Dark Eldar codex. Thus, it is a DE army with proxy figures. If I paint up some space marines and use the Necron codex for the rules, it is a Necron army, not a space marine army. Since my implication went unnoticed, I'll ask directly: is dark mechanicus a "power armor" army?

@ Togusa-san - to be honest there is an Adeptus Mechanicus section on the forum, so I figured that a Dark Mechanicus Blog would be ok. :D not to mention theirs a Daemon section too... Plus my whole army is gonna be converted. So its not just a case of painting up 1 army & using a different codex...

Aye, considering dark mechanicus could be considered a sub section of chaos, the way adeptus mechanicus is a subsection of imperial forces, it should be ok...
