Magnus, Russ and Horus!

My favorite 'quick fix' to this timeline error is something I read in the Outcast Dead thread. I can't remember who said it, but basically its easier for me to disregard the timeline issue if I believe that the Chaos Power Tzeentch had manipulated the time Magnus' message was in the warp, so when he arrived on Terra he had actually gone in the future and Istvaan 5 had already occured, but to Magnus it hadn't....if that makes any sense.

Well, i thought of A D-B mainly because he is the only writer i know to visit B&C, and sometimes he cares about explaining things to fans. Besides, i don't expect him to literally solve the problem, but he surely can help us make something of this timeline-thing. And yes, because his books are awsome :)

The 'Tzeentch manipulating the time from the Warp' kind of things, and the "time is theoretical" works in some cases, but wouldn't here. From A Thousand Sons I understood that the Emperor sent the Wolves to bring Magnus to Terra because Magnus travelled to Terra and ruined the Throne, acted against Nikea, etc. Time may be theoretical in the Warp, but not on Terra.

Ok imagine this: You are the Emperor and the Dropsite Massacre has just happened. Suddenly, Magnus appears in your room and destroys your plans for the future of mankind, but he is clearly loyal. So, in the middle of the Horus Heresy, with 3 of your legions practically destroyed, you send one of your remaining legions to arrest another loyal one. That would be a wise decision indeed.

(And of course on the way Russ has a friendly meeting with the Archtraitor, who gives him commands as Warmaster)

I don't think we can explain this with the warptime, because, again, the decisions the Emperor makes must follow logical order.

Regards, a.

Put simply, The Outcast Dead got the timeline wrong on very key events, there's no sneaky way around it using 'Warp-time' or Tzeentch.

There's lots of contradictory information in any intellectual property, not least Warhammer and not least the Horus Heresy.

It's not the end of the world and it hasn't ruined everything and now the series is cancelled. The next books will go on as planned, nothing has to be majorly changed to save face or match up with some new canon.

Relax.

We in prospero burns we see Russ offer magnus a chance to surrender on the way to Prospero.

But obviously magnus does not receive the message. But as magnus has put psychic shield preventing any communication even if Russ or Valdor transmits one when they get there he still wont receive it as hes blocking any communications. Bringing about his own doom again.
