how many minis do you paint a day

I think some of the difference may be that a few of us include time to prep and assemble and all that, while the others only include actual paint time. If I included prep and assembly, it would take a whole lot longer than that.

Oooo, yah. That doubles the amount of time I'll spend on a miniature. (Higher detail miniatures need more Modeling work, generally, so that works.)

But the question was how many models do you paint a day.

Back when I actually had models to paint I could do 10-15 models a day. But that was because I was only using foundation paints and two of them at that. When I started getting into the more intricate models I dropped to 2-7 a day because of all the detailing and extra steps. Besides I was using the old blue GW brushes: tank, small dry-brush, standard, and fine detail brushes. I might buy some f the newer brushes but for now the blue ones work for me.

I can do 1-2 squads a week comfortably but I always have this issue where I'll have a squad nearly finished and have so much hype for the next project I'll do something stupid like forgetting to paint the bolters on what I'm doing at the moment and then I'll see it a few weeks later as I lay the models out for the game and get rather annoyed with myself ;)

If I really did do it all day, i.e. starting at 10:00am and going till 10:00pm, with obvious food toilet and eye strain breaks in between... 4.4 models.

Those 5 would be finished for all intents and purposes but would probably need a second coat to white areas, bases painting, and scripture painted/penned in.

Assembly line painting gets you through!

Phew.

In reality however, that works out as 0.14 models a day, because I only (get to) paint on Sundays.

I budget time for painting and modeling. If I can knock out 4 or 5 orks in that time, great! If I finish assembling a Dreadnought, that's fine.

I don't really worry about a talley, so I couldn't tell you.

Since I started dating again, I have less time for painting.

when i'm actually painting flat out i'll get about a 10 man unit done to high TT quality (i hate anything less....) in about 2 days.

at the moment though my average must be about 0.000000000000000001 per day. too much other daily stuff to deal with to have time to paint :P

Generally, one unit or one vehicle per day. When in a crunch, I'll paint more faster, but I'll never skimp on the details.

For instance, did a fully painted and based 50-model Warriors of Chaos army in four days.

More recently, did a fully painted and based 70-model Tomb Kings army in a week.

And even more recently than that, a 21-model Grey Knights army in a couple days (though to be fair, half was already done long before then ).

Im very slow 1 model whenever I get round to it considering I have finished 99.9% of my army with only my most recent addition of a converted metal captain to go. Overal sub-standard average painter but dont like to paint much at all.
