The Tyrant of Badab

For those of you who remember my Raptors army I had on here not too long ago, I've made very minimal process painting that. Mostly because I had a hard time getting the paint to consistently look the same from model to model, mostly because of bad mixing on my part. In addition to that, the army was just freaking huge. Too much in one go. It's now sitting in a nice and brand new BattleFoam 1520 XL case, which costed an absolutely ridiculous amount, but I suppose it was worth it. I'll get back to them eventually.

Anyway, moving on. I had a Lugft Huron model sitting here since it was released, and the Space Marine half of a Black Reach set sitting here, and conveniently a can of Army Painter Plate Mail sitting here as well, so I've decided to do a small (hopefully BIG later on) side project, that SHOULD be much, much much simpler to paint that the mix of greens the Raptors were.

The most lengthy part of painting Marines, for me at least, is the base coat of the armor. With the plate mail spray, that cut down on the work time immensely. All I have to do really is the blue on the shoulder pads, the pad trim, details, and then a bit of highlighting with mithril silver.

For those who are like "TL;DR", here's some primed pics.

Minor sergeant conversion:

Huron. Replaced the bare head with a standard termie helm:

Calgar. I just got the finecast model for the honor guards, so I trimmed off the Ultramarine symbols, and he's going to be the Astral Claws chapter master before Huron. And yes, that's a Grey Knight head. EDIT: DOH! Just noticed his eagle thingy is completely discombobulated. Ooops.

I plan on adding a Battleforce once this stuff is all painted. I'm also going to make a counts-as Sicarius to use as Huron when he was captain of 4th Company.

Long term goals for this force will be to eventually have an Apocalypse Tyrant's Legion list, with lots of Leman Russ, and these: http://www.thewarstore.com/product61791.html as the Militia forces.

Hopefully I'll start painting tonight. If I can find my Band of Brothers discs, that is. Gotta have something to listen to while I paint.

Here's a combat squad, I'd estimate about 50% done. :D So easy...I can do an army of these...Just have to add some washes, highlights, and figure out a color for the chest eagle.

EASYEASYEASY!

And here they are. Not sure on the bases yet.

EDIT: More pics.

Sprues of the Auxilia Troops. There's 3 guys per sprue, so doing the math quickly, that's a lot of guys. But not enough, considering units of them can be up to 40 strong. They're essentially conscripts.

That pile of sprues amounts to 3 boxes:

Here's one next to a Marine:

And, just because they were sitting there at the time, here's 2 Imperial Sector boxes:

EDIT: Yay, been up for over 48 hours, and over 450 views, not one reply. Guess I just won't update this.
