Raizon
During my diluded childhood I had been using a lot of Black Templars chapter upgrade kits from GW on a chapter that wasn't even Black Templars purely because I thought "Aw yeah that's amazing" when I saw the sprues. So as you can guess, I've got a fair few squads of marines that look like Black Templars, but I don't want to let them go to waste, my current chapter is a dark blue with white trim, sadly, my camera isn't in my possession at the moment so I can't show you how they look, I have almost half my force painted this scheme and some of them are using Black Templar iconography. So anyway, on to my actual point behind this thread, I was wondering if this matters too much, I mean, imagine the Black Templars you see on the GW wbesite but blue, to me this looks like I'm not putting much effort or imagination into the poor guys. Some help and/or advice would be greatly appreciated as to what to do, or whether you think it might turn out alright. Thanks for reading a bit of a long post, but I felt I needed to make it long to give you guys the right idea about the position I'm in, hehe. Cheers. :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/240876-im-having-a-bit-of-shocker/ Share on other sites
Brother-Chaplain Kage
They're your figures. Assemble and paint them however you wish. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/240876-im-having-a-bit-of-shocker/#findComment-2908639 Share on other sites

NemFX
You don't even need to make reference to the colour. They could be the Knights of (whatever) or they could just be The (whatever) and the knight stuff could just go along with it. Jacinda
I read the OP, but was not sure what you were asking so I went on and came back later. I'm not certain what you are wanting. So here are my thoughts that may well be off on a tangent. Mix and match parts from different chapters? As long as the look good, sure. The more you can fit them into a cohesive army the better. Better, as in better than a stock SM army! Chaos Space Marines were my first army ever and it was the fact that I could do all these weird conversions and customizations on them and still look like they belonged together that made me pick them. Easily half of my troops have aquilas and blood drops on their chest :D But they are unmistakably soldiers of chaos now. If you want to make a Black Templar army but want it to look unique, go with a successor chapter. It's what they were put in for anyway. The Faithful Order of the Cobalt Temple. Maybe the Ultramarine ultramarines. lol. Name your chapter, come up with a story (my favorite part) and paint them so they look good to you. They don't even have to be a Black Templar successor chapter, but it would be easier to explain the markings and iconography. champion_wasabi
PsychosisPC hasn't been around for awhile but he did have his DIY chapter, the Cerulean Templars. They're marines that are based on the Black Templars with a blue colour scheme. Do a search for them if you'd like. Like your other brothers have said. They're your marines. You choose what they look like and you're the only one that says that they're right or wrong. There are a thousand chapters in the Imperium. Yours are as right as any of them. Cheers. Redfinger
My blood angel force is called "Sanguine Templars" they are painted red, and they are covered in BT iconography, no one has ever said anything about it. Thanks everyone, and yeah searched up his chapter and I'm definately more confident about pulling it off, thanks again everyone and I've been thinking about a chapter name, and I think it's a throw up between Azure Knights, Knights of the Azure or The Midnight Crusade. (Not as keen on the latter...) And as for the story/ history, long story short, 'Camelot-esque' fortress world (if there is an actual name for those planets then please correct me) that is nigh-on oblitoration and the tyranids are actually the main cause of this and in attempts to stem to tyranid invasions, crusades are a valid use of warfare and such. I would go into more detail but this thread is about army iconography and colour schemes, not my chapter masters life story. ;) Cheers :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/240876-im-having-a-bit-of-shocker/#findComment-2909418 Share on other sites
40k nut
Your army sounds great. Just be up front with your opponent that they are just regular marines with cool conversions. You'll probably find opponents saying they wish they'd thought of the same thing!
