krewl
Hello Frater, I thought I'd share my results this last dutch GT (Weekend of 22/23 October) as I was very succesfull. First of all props to Jayz and Aekold for help with greenstuff and highlights! Those few extra soft points really made a difference. So to start, my list. Some list discussion on what to take has been going on here at the army list section a while ago, once I settled on something I mainly stuck with that core of Belial and 5 trmie squads and experimented with how to fill th last set of points. HQ: Belial with TH&SS Troops Deathwing "command" squad, all TH&SS, apothecary (with CML) and Deathwing banner. 4 x the same: 5 Termies, 2 x TH&SS, 1 CML/fist/Stormbolter, Sarge with powersword/stormbolter and chainfist+Stormbolter. Fast attack Ravenwing Attack Squad, 2 x Meltagun, powerfist, Meltabomb and an attackbike with Multimelta. Landspeeder Multimelta and typhoon missile launcher Landspeeder Multimelta and typhoon missile launcher Pre tourny painting and list builing ensured I got 29/30 painting points and 20 WYSIWYG and List presentation points, so 49 out of 50 for a good start. First game vs Space Wolves. Booring mission because it was tablequarters + killpoints and my opponnt had MSU wolfs so severall small squads in rhino's and the normal razors (Las/plas) with the long fangs. In short, I just played the booring mission and killed 2 rhino's, he got the drop on 1 speeder and that was it, 18-2 to me. (Personal note here, I think the mission should reward the difference in KP, not the 2:1 ratio. (2:1 in KP meant I had twice his so a huge victory, while it really was a draw in game terms)). Not a lot he could do against me, his short range mant comming clodser would just have meant more kills for me,while his missiles bounched of my saves. (The guy I playd did go on and and score 20-0 20-0 20-0 20-0 after that, so don't feel bad for him ;) ) Second game vs Eldar His list was something like; Eldrad, Seer council on foot (5 guys) Avatar wave serpent with twin brightlance, with 10 Dire avengers with bladestorm wave serpent with twin brightlance, with 10 Dire avengers with bladestorm wave serpent with twin brightlance, with 10 guardians of some sort with a gun platform. 3 warwalkers (Dunno the gun, shoots 24 times) Mission was Seize Ground, Dawn of War deployment We rolled 5 objctives sadly, even with my 5 troops that would be hard to win 18-2 or 20-0 as you would need all objectives. Highlights of the game where his 3 serpents speeding up and emptying the contents for blade storms on my units. His firts unit targeted my normal termies and did about 18 wounds. I rolled and lost all guys.. fearing the worstI watched as he targetted my command squad with belial, who proceded to save/not wound/Feel no pain every wound but 1 on belial!. In my turn I Immoed 1 serpent and blew up 2 with a 6" explosion, which ofcouse hit his 30 exposed eldar several time. Good times where to be had as Belial then got medival on their pointy eared rear end! :) Vengeance was indeed very sweet. I finished up the troops after which I could ride the game ot, I also had 1 turn where eldrad periled, so he fortuned the avater and guided the warwalkers, hence no fortune on himself and the seer council. I klilled al his guys but eldrad refused to bite it and he and the avatar tag team proceded to just not die. (Eldrad died in the end, but a turn to late for me to win 20-0..) it ended after turn 7 with just 1 avatar on 2 wounds left of the eldar, me claiming 2 objectives (or 3 but it doesn't matter due to the victory conditions... ) So close from a wipe out... more objectives meant 14-6 for me which moved to 16-4 because I killed more the 500 VP's more from him then he did off me. That eldrad with a 3++ reroll and a fortune on the avatar make them real hard to take down. I think they where in cc (Killing a full 5 men unit that was claiming 2 objectivs... <_< ) for 4 or 5 game turns and they just didn't die. 3rd Game versus GK Mission was a wierd one, 3 objectives on a line in the middle, one center, 1 each 6"from your edge in your deployment zone. Scoring units could claim these, but only if uncontested and in the movement phase. Also no claiming in T1. If an objctove was laimed it stayd yours as long as no enemy claimed it from you. (No contesting secured objectives.) Pitched deployment. Opponents army: SHOOTY GK. Inquisitor with rad grenades and psychotropes 2 x Rhino with 5 GKSS with hammer and psycannon 3x razor with psyammo heavy bolters and 5 GKSS with hammer and psycannon 2 x razor with psyammo heavy bolters and 5 purifiers with 2x psyannon and hammer. 3 x Psyfldreads (2 x twin autocannons at S8) This game went well, nothing else to say about it really. I moved up 5 x 5 termies up the center to the central objective. He ran up his 2 rhino's on the center terqainbit and 2 razors on a flanking move on the side. I left a trail to my own objectove in T2 so it was mine and then moved everything else up. He tried to get a charge but failed with 1 squad on difficult terrain range and that squad blocked the 2nd one. He then decided the 3rd would not solo into belial and 5 termies as they would die horrible and this way they'd last anpothr turn for me to spend resources on them. I moved up and shot into the clumped marines but did onl a few casualties, dus shoot an arm off a Psyfldread and blow up another razor. after that I charged in the inquisitor and 3 or so Purifiers and learned that grenades are wierd. I had T3, he hit before me and also had prefered enemy. Could have been worse as there is also a result that makes you hit yourself... 3 guys died before they could swing (Faild both SS saves) but the other team and the leftovers pummelld a hammer into the inquisitor so he'd never do that again. That shows you that you should not peep under a dark angels robe...... I also pummelled the 5 normal guys but one lived and ran away. So belial and squad where once again in the open. (I killed very little cause of eployment of rhino's who blocked alomst all of actinbg in the close combat. I wreckd omn of those rino's aswell, and somewhere the other got immo'ed but still lives (AND contests as the important part.) His turn his entire army shoots Belial and command squad, when the smoke cleared Belail and the CML apotehacry looked up and got pissed. (But the rest of my guys did ok, as they did not get shot ;) Belial dropped on the rhino of contesting, the CML apothecary targetted a clean shot on the unhurt psyfledread and I pretty much cleared the floor from there, end of T5 I also cleared the center objective BUT did not claim it as I was not there in the movement phase end. All he had left where 4 pinned GK in a rhino crater and then we rolled a 1... So he had 1 objective to my one... Since I had about 800-ish points left to his 100 or so I did win 12-8 due to my higher VP's but it felt like a shame cause I would have tabled given an extra turn. Still end of day one and I had 3 victories under my belt and somewhere in the top 20 (Which was my goal) so I was pretty happy. Much fun was had in the evening with the barbeque and beer and a pub quiz by a rival club (Which I and a team mate won.) On to day 2 for 2 more games and the quiz. 4th game was Kill the HQ. I faced a know enemy of mine, Imperator, a guy who I've played several games with. He knows his stuff, and I might say that I do aswell. So his generall was hidden in a chimera way back, mine was joined to a squad way back on the other side.. Stuff fought and died in the middle but no one got close to eachothers general. Sadly a bit boring, but a non eternal warrior Belial just can not risk running in front of medusa's.... In the end we had a VP difference of only 120 of so so a solid draw at 10-10. Again a mission that could have ben adjusted a bit to make for less win all lose all on the general, that way people would use theirs and not just keep them back.... In between there was a quiz, 20x 4 options multiple choice, also worth 20 points in total if you got all correct. Quistions where things like, what name is the hlmet pattern of the sistr of battle (Sabbat) or whats the weight of a falcon (I dunno) or the first name of Sgt Bastonge (Lucas) etc tc. So fluff and rules questions Aekold won that one with 16 so he's a huge nerd... I had 15 wich is ofcourse normal and not showing any nerdishness at all!. Last game vs GK again, Only 19 or so models, the guy was great fun and a modeler at hart so he had just stuff that lookd cool not stuff that kicks !@*%*& . He has: Draigo, 4 Palladins with stuff Librarian Dread with assault cannon (+ Psybolts) Dreadknight with flamer Stormraven 10 purifiers 5 termies. Mission was pitched battle, capture and controle (So 2 objectives.) That game was over once I rolled seize.. I had a 6, started the game, first bikes drove up and 2nd meltagun penned and did a 6.First shots of the game and his plan was out of the window. After that I had him as he could not get to me in time and he walked to defend his own but here his model choice really bit him. I just shot frag after frag into him and bolters when available, while the bikers and speeders took out the dreadnought first. I drew LOS to his purifiers a lot who went down easlily as they have just a marine statline. His termies dropped in and also ate it in the end. The Dreadknight did some damage but could not stop the advance of my 26 termies on his own, and the paladins and draigo eventually ate it in close combat (Killing 3 command squad guys and an entire unit on my side. for the trouble.) Game again ended on a no turn 6 roll else I would have kiled the last model again, the libby in cc with belial and 2 command squad guys. I thought I would end up top 20, top 10 depending on others results, but I ended up 2nd overall in about 100 people so I was happy as can be. I don't know if the liber victoriam is still there, but if it is feel free to copy this list in there. krewl
Just proves Deathwing with RW support is hard as nails, I almost tabled 3 of the 5 guys I played. 2 more tournies in the next month, here's to hoping I do as well there. (Off course thats just 3 games, so luck is a bigger factor..) skink
Just proves Deathwing with RW support is hard as nails I used to run a very similar list at 1500, minus a DW squad of course, but couldn't get to grips with the bikers. You've inspired me to try again! How useful did you find the PF in the bike squad? krewl
Awesome job Krewl, thanks for posting the report. We need pics of your army! Your command is my wish! Bit rushed in the pictures so some blurry may occur.. Belial: Command Termies (White) Termies green Termies Purple Termies Bone Termies Copper Ravenwing Squad Speeder 1 Speeder 2 @Skink, the fist was useless in these missions, but it was more of a focus idea. Now if I'd get the drop on a tank with rear armour 10 I'd use the fist so the entire squad is based on anti tank. MB is there for the same at a landraider (3 chances to pop it). I never needed the fist but the fast meltaguns have proven their use. Same for the MM attack bike whih was almost always usefull even if only by projecting a threat range for anything with an AV. And the other choice over a powerweapon was 2 more chainfists, but the termies did not have an issue opening any armour these games. Captain Semper
VERY NICE Krewl!!! I like the "chopper" style bikers and love the missiles on the Terminators! Also 2nd overall in 100 people, that's some achievement! Congrats! A small request though: the pics are a bit "elongated". Do you think you can fix that? Your army looks too nice to be distorted... krewl
I don't have the original pictures anywhere, I just need to make new ones again. As said these where a rush job to finish the armylist on time before we started. I'm interesting to know how the meta is there. It would be fine if you can give me a brief overview. :D Thanks. aekold
Nevermind Spacefrisian. He is from a different part of the netherlands, namely Friesland. A part we have been trying to dislodge for decades now. He is just jealous. I participated in the tournament as well. My list was the exact same as the one played by Krewl. Only difference was that I have one squad with all stormbolters and no stormshields. I ended up 14th, which was a bit disappointing since I would have placed in the top 10 if I hadn't forget about the mission in the last battle and focussed on killing my opponent instead of guarding my home objective. On the other hand I did win the knowledge quiz as Krewl mentionened before and I was nominated for best painted army, which was a huge suprise. @ Krewl: Congratulations again and I must say that you have some sharp highlights on your terminators. krewl
Congratulations for this very good place. :D Andthanks for the batrap! You played in Holland, right? I'm interesting to know how the meta is there. It would be fine if you can give me a brief overview. ;) Thanks. Regards I'm not certain what you mean by Meta, I take it you mean the general style of the game? We tend to play 1750 points on tournaments, what tends to end up in top tables most tournies is: - Deathwing (Me and another clubmber (Aekold who you might know here ;) ) - Vulkan marines (Several players, including 3rd place this GT) - Deamons (One guy with fateweaver and bloodcrushers, he won the GT (his third win, he's that good)), not a lot of other people. - Several GK lists, the one I faced 3rd game was based of MSU 2x rhino and Psyammo assault razors and had a lot of 5 men squads (5 razos, 3 psyfledreads) - One top 10 guy had Dark Eldar, no idea what type of list he played, I do know that th rest of DE players did not score very well. - Space Wolves. Solid lists based on MSU rhino's and offcourse fangs with some TWC, one did 7th and one did 2nd best general, so also always solid performers. - Nids are always on the op 10 tables as there are 2 or 3 good players. I see a lot of stealer units in these and the doom in a pod. AFAIK no tyrants, few tervies, people prefer the Primes. - One IG did 9th overall, several IG players where at the tourny. For more army info see the PDF of the results below: PDF with results @Spacefrysian, rare jongens die friesen.... Maxamato
Thanks. This is what I have looked for. I wonder that there is no BA in the Top10?? Why, bad players or bad lists? Do you know that? And Daemons have won? Crazy, in my area nobody plays Daemons really competitve because with all the GK/BA and IG out there it is more a auto loose for them. Nids placed on 11th place is also surprising me. They get the same fortune as Daemons (most of the time). Maxamato
Yeah but a i.e. Libby with Null Zone and TH&SS Termis will solving this issue, in principle. aekold
I know that in his first game he faced a libby with nullzone and in his second game he faced nullzone and th/ss terminators in a vulcan list. He tabled both of his opponents and I know them, they are no bad players. Brother Kovash
That's some rough competition there krewl, nice to see you did well. Thanks for the pics, cool to see more people using the GK helmets. They give a more knightly feel to our Deathwing. About the Daemon player, you can't fault him at all for using bloodcrushers. They are tough to crack, especially if Fateweaver is nearby to let them reroll failed invulnerable saves. You have to remember every Daemon has an invulnerable save and also has eternal warrior, so they don't go down easily. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/240922-krewls-deathwing-does-the-dutch-gt/#findComment-2913965 Share on other sites
krewl
Yep, all nullzone does as long as the libbie is alive is make the bloodcrushers normal which is still hard hitting in cc and still quite survivable. Wound allocation and the 5+ (Plus the normal fact that the get a 3+ vs normal hits and T5 make them just less tough. And the libbie will be the target of a bloodthirster's personal attentions and the "Not a psy power so not blockable" windwar/spawn attack fateweaver can do. That guy playing the deamons is also just very very good, this is his 3rd win of the GT, and he placed 2nd and 3rd aswell, so he's just one of those very talented guys. @Brother Kovash, those deathwing helmets where not GK helmets, I followed a tutorial here on the BC to cut them from normal termie helmets. Sadly I discovered that tutorial a bit late so only the command squad has them to set them appart a bit. They do look good though, I'm very happy with that resulting look.
