Token
Think this is my biggest sculpting atempt, i want werewolves in powerarmor that counts as thunderwolf cavalry. Werewolves are cool. Not 100 on the head though. Have started redoing the thigh plates. Tips and comments are welcome. http://i1179.photobucket.com/albums/x389/Torkor/Thunderwerewolf04.jpg http://i1179.photobucket.com/albums/x389/Torkor/Thunderwerewolf03.jpg http://i1179.photobucket.com/albums/x389/Torkor/Thunderwerewolf02.jpg http://i1179.photobucket.com/albums/x389/Torkor/Thunderwerewolf01.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/240932-trying-to-sculpt-power-armor-for-thunderwerewolf/ Share on other sites
Grotsmasha
What a cool idea!! I'll be tracking this project for sure. the Fell Hand
Great idea! I am using the Confrontation Wolfen models for a similar idea because I like the werewolf idea and its less silly than marines riding giant wolves. Keep up the good work! Token
Thanks, a friend said that the crothplate kinda looks like a diper, so ill probably redo that. Any tips on how to make it better? Tips from experienced sculpters/modelers are welcome. sar mikael
This may sound weird but I think the nappy (diaper) reference is because it looks flat. Look at the marines cod pieces and its actually protecting the emperors crown jewels- just like a cricket cup. Now how that'd transfer to a giant werewolf I don't know, but a bit more shape maybe as though its protecting sometthing and not holding baby cack should be good. Like the idea though. I'll be watching this progress. Megapope
Werewolves. Power armour. Everything in this thread is awesome. Wicced
nice idea, but i looks more like a fat rat than a werewolf imho (especially due to the tail) i think a werewolf should be more lean. as for the sculpting, what do you use to smooth your work? in some places it looks too uneven or "lumpy" for armor plates. for sculpting i can greatly advise on getting some clay/colorshapers from royal sovereign. one of the best tools for working on all sorts of putty in my experience. Token
Thanks, i dont know how to make it more even, i used a sculpting tool with some water to get it to be as smooth as it is in the picture. The mini used is the rat ogre, skaven, fantasy. Not sure if there is one leaner that could be used for a big werewolf, but ill use the rat ogre, not sure about the head though. The tail is wip, not sure what to do with it, think either it will be just fur or some kind of armor over it. Is it allowed to link to other forums on this forum? I have some werewolves i use as Imp Ogryns, shown on another forum, fluffwise i want the Thunderwerewolf to be similar, but with power armor. I found some picture of what i think is those tools, how much should they cost? If its allowed to link to commercial sites, id appreciate a link from where you can order them to be shipped to Sweden. Brother Ambroz
Yeah great idea but I have to agree with Wicced. It looks......well "fat" for lack of a better term. And his tail does look more rat-like than lupine. If you're going to give a werewolf a tail should try to make it bushy. You could try using chaos hounds from WHF. I've seen a conversion sometime back of a werewolf using those on coolminiornot. geordie09
I think if you could avoid the diaper/cricket box look around the groin by covering this area with a variety of torn tabbards, loin cloths, dangling totems (ahem) etc. It would add more to the mini and give you scope for variety within the unit. Taarnak
Awesome idea. I may borrow it sometime. What putty are you sculpting with? That will give me a direction to take in giving you some ideas on smoothing. ~E Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/240932-trying-to-sculpt-power-armor-for-thunderwerewolf/#findComment-2911533 Share on other sites
Token
Not sure what putty i use, will perhaps try to find out. Been doing some work on the legs. http://i1179.photobucket.com/albums/x389/Torkor/Thunderwerewolf06.jpg http://i1179.photobucket.com/albums/x389/Torkor/Thunderwerewolf07.jpg And his "naked" brother. http://i1179.photobucket.com/albums/x389/Torkor/Thunderwerewolf05.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/240932-trying-to-sculpt-power-armor-for-thunderwerewolf/#findComment-2911716 Share on other sites

Token
Im not sure on how many to make, but perhaps 3-4 of these and one lord. Not sure if the lord should be as big as these werewolves, or be based on a minotaur, which is larger. Need opinions: Should they be put on medium or large bases? Canis is on a large base, right? So, ruleswise balancing they should be on a large one, but will that look silly? Also need tips on what to use for thunderhammer and stormshields. Thinking of calling my thunderlords weapon Alldräper, which means Allslayer, which would be both lighting claw and thunderhammer, tips on making that look cool? As one weapon that is.. Edit: galeforce 9 grey stuff, is the putty i used. Token
Redid the crotch plate, made it more like a jockstrap (is that the right word?) and added some section thingy i saw on a marine. Im not sure what to do about the back, doesnt look all that good, neither back nor back of legs. Suggestions? Suggestions on what to use as powerpack? http://i1179.photobucket.com/albums/x389/Torkor/Thunderwerewolf08.jpg http://i1179.photobucket.com/albums/x389/Torkor/Thunderwerewolf09.jpg http://i1179.photobucket.com/albums/x389/Torkor/Thunderwerewolf10.jpg http://i1179.photobucket.com/albums/x389/Torkor/Thunderwerewolf11.jpg Not much sun when i photoed, thats why the pics are abit dark. carnosaur93
make the tail come out from a slightly angled "butt plate" (like normal PA have), that should fix the backside looking wrongish... also, how would a regular backpack look on him? awesome work allaround btw :o a very nice and creative way to go around the awfullness that is giant wolf mounts :edit: you might also want to sand down the armor in some places to make it smoother in texture Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/240932-trying-to-sculpt-power-armor-for-thunderwerewolf/#findComment-2912973 Share on other sites
Token
How would you make shoulderpads? Is it hard to make? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/240932-trying-to-sculpt-power-armor-for-thunderwerewolf/#findComment-2918115 Share on other sites
WingsOfTheFalcon
I'd highly recommend you buy yourself a size 0 clay shaper, chisel shaped, so you can smooth out your armour plates. Great work so far though! spacewolflars
For shoulder pads you could see if you could come across a set from the plastic greater deamon model, then just fill in the chaos symbols with your grey stuff. The tail, I would say that might look better if you took it off altogether. Then you could build up his butt to look like a regular space marine. Token
Wings, could you pm me a link to where to buy that tool? Is it usefull once the stuff has hardened? Or do you use it when its still clay like? Razerz
I would actually recommend size 2 for bigger areas like armour and size 0 for finer details (but that's just me). Do a search for "clay shaper" on Google or eBay to find them. I have a set of size 0 extra firm as well as a size 2 extra firm flat chisel, and they are very useful! WingsOfTheFalcon
You use them when the clay is soft(ish) to smooth out armour plates. Just google 'Clay Shapers' and you'll find suppliers, they look like a paintbrush with a rubber tip. Just make sure you keep them wet while your smoothing so they don't stick to anything.
