Detailing Steel Colored Tanks

Recommended Posts

Ok, I'm doing Iron Warriors but I've run into a bit of a brick wall here & was hoping for suggestions from other Iron Warrior players as well as Silver Skulls etc.

My question is:

How do you paint tracks & battle damage to make them stand out from a primary color of boltgun metal highlighted w/ mithril silver?

Check out Nurgling6688's Astral Claws thread (Link Here!), very nice chipped and damaged steel armour. Hope this helps! :)

Thanks, that is a help. Any ideas on doing tracks on tanks so they don't just blend? On some of my tanks they go all the way round like IG tanks so they're very prominent.

PJ1933 has an excellent recipe for tanks.. so much so that i stole it.

Tracks are painted dark flesh and then heavy washed with badab black but it depends how old you want them to look you could use a dark grey instead of dark flesh for a fresher look. Then after pigments are added I try to pick out the tread pattern with a light drybrush of gunmetal a graphite pencil can work for this too.
