Airbrush?

Recommended Posts

So I'm getting serious enough about my painting that I decided I want to get me an airbrush. The problem is that I know next to nothing about them. Basically I know that I probably want a gravity-fed brush and that a compressor is pretty much a must have. I also heard that Iwata is the go-to for quality products, but beyond that...

Can anyone help?

Probably the most important thing IMO is to have a dual action airbrush. This means you control the amount of paint that is coming out while you paint. Also a good compressor ie I have a bad one that only maintains about 4 psi while paint is flowing, I would prefer one that can maintain about 25 psi but im stuck with what I have do to pricing.

If you get a decent airbrush you wont go back. I have seen people paint 2000 points of BA in about 5 hours. Base coat, zenthial highlight with a lighter color... brush in the details and volla you have a decent table top looking army. It paints vehicles so much better than any body using a brush could ever attempt. You can pick up a nice airbrush for around 90 dollars. I use two, a Badger Velocity and a Iwata Revolution. I use the revolution more than the velocity because I have to clean it less... but for real fine areas I use the velocity.
