McGraw
Hi there. I'm currently in the process of starting BA after my stepson convinced me to change from tyranids. My starting 500 PTs is a reclusiarch (using lemartes until I move to Dante) 2x RAS (using 5 x dc with JPs for 1 of the squads for the time being, purely because I don't want to paint 10 assault marines in one go) and a sanguinary priest with JP. I have bought a pack of BA shoulder pads from GW. I would like to make my assault squads as BA as possible so thought I would use the DC shoulder pads with the crosses for the DC (plus 5 others) and use the rest of the DC pads for the assault squads. This leaves only the priest with a plain left shoulder pad. Although I want a BA flavour, I don't want to go overboard and I also want to make sure I put things where they are supposed to go, so which shoulder should I put the BA pads on and is it correct to also have ornate shoulder pads on the othe side. I know they are my models and I can do what I want with them, I am a stickler for doing things the correct way. Thanks for any advice. Asmodai78
best thing to do is to get a copy of the BA CODEX, and that will give you a great indication on how to set them up Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/241145-blood-angel-shoulder-pads/#findComment-2912474 Share on other sites
McGraw
Thanks. Didn't have it with me at the time but I understand now. Wings with blood drop on the middle on the left, company markings on the right so DC cross goes on the right. darkenedsquire
I tend to mix them around anyway and it's never looked odd or out of place. Small word of warning I bought those shoulder pads a few years back and they seem a bit too small for the current "28mm HEROIC!!!" scale and where a nightmare to fit and I ended up not using them in the end :P Please let me know if this has changed though. Venerable Jazzman
The old metal BA and in particular the DC pads were on the small side, and could look a bit weird. The new plastics are obviously all the correct size now.
