Yaj
Working on the background for the chaos force I'm slowly collecting. The following are my intial thoughts and so subsquent to change. Born the Twin-Sons of a weak King who ruled over one of Terra’s first out of system colonies. Identical in every way. As a result a bitter rivalry forms with each trying to out do the other no matter the cost to those around them. There father (the King) is to quick to let them get away with this behaviour and does very little to control them. As age catches up with the King both brothers vie for the right to be named successor and enact many a plot and murder to achieve this goal over the other. On his death-bed the King decrees that the world shall be divided equally into two and each son shall rule one half. As soon as there father is dead both brothers immediately declare that the other half of the planet belongs to them and the first of many civil wars breaks out. It eventually stagnates and both brothers recall there armies satisfied that they are in some way the victorious party. The rivalry continues through subsequent wars, grand building projects etc. Every time one brother does something then the other seeks to do the same but on a much grander scale. Eventually one turns to the worship of dark gods and of course the other follows suit. The rivalry descend into sickening rituals and genocidal wars as both brothers attempt to prove once and for all that they are the better of the two in the eyes of there patrons. Pleased with this devotion and amused by the rivalry the gods elevate both brothers to the ranks of Daemon Prince. The rivalry continues with now all eternity to prove themselves better than the other. However the gods have linked there fates to each others - when one ‘dies’ so does the other and so neither can ever truly claim to be dominant. As they can not defeat the other totally with out defeating themselves. In recent times they have sought to take command of renegade marines through defeating there leaders or offering power in return for loyalty to them etc. They are known to there followers as Drakava The All-Seeing and Rorzalian The All-Knowing. That’s it for now - what do you think? I’ll write it up as a proper IA and expand on the above especially the last two parts. I need a name for the warband Drakava leads and though I can think of several names none sound right. Suggestions? Thanks. CKO
Really good start, cant wait to see what you come up with it! No suggestions as it seems to have the perfect setup. What sort of name are you looking for? What would you like it to evoke? EDIT: I'm just wondering about the colour scheme. Have you picked one? Because if not, it occurs that halved colours on opposite sides depending on which lord the marine's allegiance is sworn to would be awesome. Something like this: Drakava's followers on the left; Rozalian's followers on the right. Shinzaren
So, they are regular men, who worshiped the Gods and became Demon Princes? How do they command the loyalty of Traitor Marines who are as Gods to normal men? Since they can't wear maximize the effectiveness of power armor via the black carapace, nor wield the weapons of an Astartes as effectively, how do they defeat and conquer marine warbands? Even with demonic gifts, a normal man will run into trouble against a marine, doubly so if that marine is 10,000 years old and has worshiped and slaughtered across the galaxy. That is the only flaw I can see so far. Otherwise it is a cool concept. Iron Lord
Isn't a big part of being Daemon Princes, is that they're much larger than normal humans or even marines? Similarly- they may have "grown daemonic armour". As to human-types at the head of Chaos hordes- the villain in Cain's Last Stand was also along these lines. Also they can easily get traitor marines to follow them only thing you have to do is make false promises of land and glory for the blood god or who ever. voi shet magir
Marines aren't orks, Shinzaren. This happens all the time. Guys just get august, chaos is all about that. They should have a third, obedient sibling who - yeah I don't think I've ever actually read this play. In the movie though, a fool takes care of their father and a blind man gives them a blanket. Yaj
Shinzaren - There are Daemon Princes more older and powerful than Primarchs according to the chaos codex. So it wouldn't be much of an effort for one to take control of a bunch of renagade marines or even an entire chapter. Ace Debonair - I do have a colour scheme based on the pre-heresy death guard scheme which since I'm not much of a painter. However I am trying to improve my skills and if you don't mind will use your scheme (with some slight alterations) on any elite units I include to represent there personal and highly loyal guards. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Update - The Slaughter At Ardax. When Rorzalian heard that the hive world of Ardax bore a child whose hair was more fine and beautiful than even his own. He declared that he seek out this child and claim it for himself and so after many months of siege his followers broke through the defense. Every single inhabitant was put to the sword and when the child was found Rorzalian is said to have simply plucked a single hair from it's head. One month later on the other side of the sector an even greater hive was destroyed and a child with even more beautiful hair was found by Drakaval. Of the fate of the two children nothing is known... ------------------------------------------------------------------ Just a piece of history of the two I had in mind that shows of the rivarly. Needs work still. Will hopefully have something more concrete for the IA by next week. Untill then keep the suggestions coming. Yaj
Thanks. What colours did you use in the pics? voi shet magir - Not really keen on adding a third sibling but thanks for the suggestion. Edit - Having just said that I'm thinking of adding a third person in the form of a daemonic or highly psychic advisor. Who works for both parties without the other knowing and thus is able to guide them into the worship of chaos. Thoughts? Yaj
Ok, I'm stuck on how to actually write this! Should I do it as a regular IA? Perhaps as a sequence of key events focusing on one twin and then the other? Perhaps I should do it as some form of inquisitorial report? Does anyone have any other ideas? or should I go with one of the above.
