I thought it might be of interest to some of you that the rules for the Lucius pattern Dreadnought Drop Pod (p.32) allows Bjorn to take a drop pod in normal games.

Assuming you play with FW rules of course.

The Lucius pattern drop pod is also more expensive now, points wise, and also takes a Fast Attack slot to make up for how cool (and OP?) it is to have a dreadnought assaulting out of a drop pod...

Can you point me to the FAQ that raises the cost of the LPDP?

Thanks

Lots of people say it is over powered to have a dreadnought turning up on your door step and possibly assaulting first turn, but in reality it takes a lot to make it work. You have to have mutual support for the dreadnought or it is toast next turn. Trust me, I have learnt the hard way!

Landing out of assault range and being left in the middle of the board with no cover! Scattering off the table edge and being place well out of harms way by my opponent!

Landing a little to close to the enemy (on top of) and rolling a destroyed result on the mishap table! Just a few of the things that can go wrong!!!!

The best way is to hold him in reserve and use him where he is needed the most in latter turns.

Drop Pods don't mishap when landing on units, they just reduce the scatter distance.

Generally, if you land your pod and aren't within assault range, you're either doing it wrong, or got really unlucky (IE, rolled boxcars and scattered directly away from any enemy units.)

If you take a Contemptor, it's even harder to be outside of assault range, due to fleet.

Looks like I did my self out of a Dreadnought in one game then but not knowing the rules! :)

As for being out of assaut range, I get real unlucky with dice, a lot.... ^_^

You might try targeting widely deployed units. that will give you a lot more angles that if the pod scatters that way, it's more likely to simply not move.
