Dreadknight Conversions?

Call me crazy, but I am no fan of the Dreadknight model as is. The concept is neat, but it is way too big for my liking. Has anyone had any success 'shrinking' it - such as in the b&w art seen in the front of the book?

Alternatively, has anyone come up with suitable substitudes for what we have now?

I'd be interested to hear about them/see them, as the Dreadknight has some neat abilities that I would like to make use of without, what is in my opinion, a terrible model.

Thanks,

Those are kinda neat, though I'm really trying to avoid the 'dreadnought-with-long-legs' look.

If your army is legit GK, it kind of fits the bill. I haven't seen anything else that I've found remotely satisfying, sadly. Though, the massive Pentinent engines from that one counts-as Custodes force in the Honor section was damn amazing.

I am new at this game but aren't you supposed to have models be their official size? No one can build a tiny landraider to get more cover saves, for example.

I saw a neat conversion somewhere online that I will have to find. They used a titan head, or epic titan head or something like that. I actually want to build my own dreadknight like the one I saw, so when I find the example I will link to it here.

This is correct; whatever the counts-as is, it's got to fit the size profile of the Dreadknight, which is considerable. Pick up a DK or two and maybe a Defiler, get to filing the spiky bits off and convert a 4+ legged Dreadknight. That's my inclination.

I don't mind the DK limbs so much, its more the pilot that I take issue with. I think I'll be putting something like a Valkyrie cockpit in the chest.

The one I saw had no cockpit at all and looked like a big robot, like it should. I really need to find that blog or forum post. They definitely put an epic titan head on dreadknight.

At throne of skulls there was an awesome ad mech inquisitor type force, I didn't play vs it but it was nominated for best army.

It had a lovely dk conversion.

I like how the dk looks, I use it along with my paladins. Here is a picture of yin and Yang, my DK's

Yeah just like you i think that it would be more interessting to have the same model as the illustration in the first pages of the book.

With some kind of big boots and a big backpack with arms, must be an early illustration where this was the Dreadknight, and then alter it got changed with what we now today.

I'm working on something similar for my second Obliterator count as,but the only way is see it is by using IG Sentinel and Tau Exo armor bits.

If i get satisfiyng results i while post the pics here or in my Thread.
