Plasma pistol is too weedy to be useful.

 

I politely disagree. When I'm running around with my hammer or sitting on objective in general, I can squeeze off 4-5 shots each and kill 3 spaced gun boyz faster than the time it would take to chase down and hammer 3 separate gun boyz all running away from me. Plus I only have to cool a second or two after each kill without reloading, I do burn through ammo way faster though. If I ever have to overheat the PP I'm better off swinging my killing blow hammer.

I also disagree with the "weedy-ness" of the plasma pistol.

In all areas the plasma pistol has better uses to both fire faster, and to charge up for a large mob to blast/ stun with enough to get into CC or to flee ( likely with a nob/ boss running in the mob).

Bolt pistol will generally kill such boyz in 2-3 hits. It does fire a little slower and doesn't have the charged shot, but then that thing drains the energy something mean. I guess it's just a personal preference thing, since they're fairly equal overall. For me it's too weedy, how about that ^_^

No doubt the bolt pistol has better range and accuracy. Rate of fire and potentally more lethalness than a bolter before it overheats is why I use it. Charged shot, not so much and only vs. armored boyz.
