I have purchased a Land Raider, and a Vindi, with a pack of plasticard! The problem I'm seeing is this: How in God's green earth do you mount the siege sheild to the front of the LR, AND make it look halfway decent?!?!? I don't want to just slap plasticard on the hull to attach the siege shield. I'm sorry if there is a thread concerning this topic already. I searched for it a couple of times and nothing. If I can make it look decent I will build two more for our annual winter Apoc game ;) I can only dream of having three of these bad boys cruising at the Fallen!!! ( shhhh, don't tell anyone. egon1six Posted November 4, 2011 Share Posted November 4, 2011 Yes I have!!! I recently just finished my LRA. The only thing you need plasticard for is to widen the dozer blade. everything else i did alot of dry fitting and then marked where to cut/ shave off a few cm. the front hull plate is going to to need some trimming from both sides. The hardest part for me to get right was the exhaust fans on top. Once again it takes a lot of dry fitting and alot of patience. Try not to make too big of cuts then you are left with ugly gaps and greenstuff is needed. I just remade it about a week ago because I never used it. I will now be using a couple of Vindi dozerblade mounts like you guys did. SOOOOOO much easier. Thank you both very much, and Congrats on how both LRA turned out. Just amazing! Edit: After I build, and paint, all of these LRA; DA will probably get a new dex with the LRA as a heavy support with a kit for it!!! Just like the Storm Raven... fivepointedstar Posted November 4, 2011 Share Posted November 4, 2011 the siege shield is easy to make just use the plastic one from the vindicator kit. then sand down the inner prow of the raider and mount the clamps to the dozer blade. Then instead of the outside of the doser blade glue them in the inner area flush with the LR prow. FYI you may have to do some shaping on the clamps for the dozer bars to fit the prow. Porkandbeans Posted November 5, 2011 Share Posted November 5, 2011 I feel i should point out, and have done so with my WiP land raider Ares, is that you should use the flamer sponsons from Baal predators (hurray for bitz sites) as they are heavy flamers, and the Ares has twin-linked heavy flamers, not flamestorms. they work quite well on the current weapon sponsons, with the crusader bolter covers to hide those odd bits. Yeah nobody plays it in my gaming group anymore, we usually play 2500 point games and just use normal rules. I think it's the group's preference. If I want to play apocalypse I have to go to the GW store, which is a bit of a drive. Which is a shame since I have about 8000 points of Dark Angels just sitting around that I never use.
