ironbear
Hi, Just a couple of quick pointers for you, 1) try thinning your paints out a little with water to help them run a little bit smoother. 2) try a wash of a darker colour direct into the recesses 3) with the gold, gold paint covers badly, dry a bas coat of bestial brown or similar and mix a tiny touch into the gold check out the space wolf subsection of these very fine forums, check out my painting in progress great company of Erik Morkai http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...howtopic=240822 EDIT: link added Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/241491-grey-hunter-wip/#findComment-2917161 Share on other sites

OptiMAT
As Above - especially with the Gold, undercoat in a brown and then highlight with a mud-yellow before appling the gold paint. Gives it a bit of depth without having to lather the model in the paint or stress out about highlighting gold with a lighter gold because it's just so thin out of the pot. However, while that's a little tip, what you've done with that gold is still quite impressive there because it doesn't look laboured at all. For the blue on those models above is right as well, looks like a decent colour but could do with thinning down, if you dont want to thin it down with water, just dont load the brush so often. It's shocking how much coverage you can get just by spreading a brush load of paint around a model. It's a little messier than using water and will need touching up here and there but I think you'll be happier with the results overall. The red looks really good though I think, a little jealous.
