Oblitterator [Artwork]

Next in the series, Empyrean Guard Oblitterator. I like how this guy turned out, pretty close to the image I had in my head, while not at all too far from the GW version.

Next up, likely a Empyrean Guard version of either Plague marine or Zerker.

Cheers

@Greyall

Conscious decision I'm afraid, my own oblies look more like this guy than the official GW ones. But, you did get me thinking... And I sized down the head in a test version, I'm actually almost of the opinion that it does make it look a bit more imposing, and bulky, suitably so. Not overly bulky like the Gw ones, but I'd almost say it's an improvement. Gotta sleep on it and watch it with fresh eyes. :D Thanks for the comment. :P

Also...

Kinda didn't quite like the head so I did retake on the head. --> http://jutami.deviantart.com/art/Chaos-spa...color-267795363

I have to say, having caught your different Empyrean Guard art threads, I am far more a fan of your tweaked versions than I am the standard citadel miniatures. While the background fluff of Chaos is interesting and dark and twisted, the depiction of them is sometimes...tending to the absurd, and in each instance you've managed to keep or add to the flavour of the units while surgically removing the features which just plain don't work. I particularly like the different themes running through each of the characters - each of them wear flayed skin, their flesh is melding into their armour and weaponry, the armour is warped and the colour scheme is nicely offset by daemonic eyes and witchlights - but each are distinct because of the different emphasis placed on these features. It's a very effective way of unifying such distinct units into a cohesive army.

I love how Giger-esque this dude is. The reforming flesh/metal is done more subtly and is more effective as a result; we can see what this guy used to be. The pose is relaxed and confident and imposing as a result. And that colour scheme is fantastic. This is actually how I envision Chaos now. Awesome.
