paolo1023
Ok, so, first question: I could be getting a contemptor for christmas and I was wondering what would be te best weapons for it. I run (or will be running) a list with 2 drop pods with 10 grey hunters each, another drop pod with 5 wolf guard and a rune priest, a 5 man grey hunter squad as a objective sitter, 5 wolf scouts and a thunder hammer lone wolf in TDA. So my question, what would be the best weapons configuration for a dreadnought to complement my current list? The next question is about rune priests. When a rune priest uses a power and passes his test, does he have to roll to hit or do his attacks automatically hit? And finally, another question about rune priests. When they have a chooser, does the +1 Bs benefit any squad he joins or not? Sorry about all the questions, still relatively new to the fang and still learning my way round! Torvak Kyre
When a rune priest uses a psychic test the shots do not automatically hit unless it is a power like Jaws of the world wolf or a power that effects him and his squad. For the chooser of the slain it only effects him not the squad. I recently got a contemptor and the kheres assault cannon makes a mess of character and squads. A cyclone missile launcher gives you added power against tanks. The power claw is quite good because it comes with a plasma gun to go in its hand which helps against armour e.g. terminators. paolo1023
Thank you Thank you And I'm sorry I should of put this in my first post, I'll be running the comtemptor as a regular dreadnought most of the time (I can do that, right?) and so special assault cannons, cyclone missile launchers, and plasma guns are out im afraid! dswanick
When a rune priest uses a power and passes his test, does he have to roll to hit or do his attacks automatically hit? The answer to this question depends on the power - Jaws hits those touched by the line, Murderous Hurricane does 3d6 hits, but Living Lightning gives d6 shots. So you'll have to carefully read the description of each power you take to determine if it has to roll or not. This might sound pants-on-head-retarded, but since I returned to the hobby in 2008 I have never even thought about needing to roll to hit with psychic powers. And neither have any of my opponents; whether they be friends, randoms in gaming stores/GW or at my local gaming club... And for the Contemptor, since yours is a drop pod heavy list, I'd recommend getting a lucius drop pod from forge world and give your contemptor that plus two close combat weapons... Did you never wonder why the Chooser of the Slain increases your Rune Priest's Ballistic Skill? It's not to help him hit with his bolt pistol. Psychic Shooting Attacks are treated fully as any other shooting attacks; the roll to hit has never been FAQed away so you've got to do that (depending on specific wording of each power). Yes you could run it as a normal or venerable.you would just have to tell your opponent what variant it is.The assault cannon you could use as it looks like a normal assault cannon.Could get a cyclone ML or plasma gun if you want, just magnetize them so if you do use them as a normal or ven dread you could take them off Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/241653-just-a-few-questions/#findComment-2920567 Share on other sites
