Crusader of Dorn
Well i've just got hold of some scibor miniatures which have inspired my latest DIY chapter the Warlords, a pictish/celtic themed chapter. So far i'm quite impressed, the sculpts look great and i've done some assembly dry runs to try and get a feel of what i want to achieve. I'll need to GS a few areas and strip some paint, plus add a few other bitz aswell. I have also been working of an IA for them - IA Warlords enquiries, C&C welcome cheers. Kajae
I like the style and can't wait to see them painted. I think the standard bearer's legs look weird, though. Too short? Sagan
Paint, paint, paint, paint, paint, paint, paint, paint! Nice looking conversions. Good work on them. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/241707-warlords/#findComment-2920691 Share on other sites
Nomus Sardauk
VERY nice, I've always thought we needed more Celtic/Pictish chapters, only problem is most of them end up looking just like Space Wolves but you've cleverly avoided this pitfall with you unusual selection of bitz, well done. Tell me good sir, have you settled on a colour scheme yet? I'm thinking a pale leaf green with deep blue celtic knot patterns as decorations here and there (perhaps an indicator of veterancy?) with... Sky blues eye lenses? Crusader of Dorn
Thanks for the interest, the standard bearer has a slighlty stooped pose but is the same as the others. It does look alittle weird in those pics, seeing him from different angles fixes that. I have no colour scheme as yet, a light blue or light green are the front runners though, with some gold or brass detailing. Was thinking of trying some NNM with these guys but i've never really got into it. There is no chapter emblem, but indvidual companies will display a secondary colour in relation to their lords heraldry. The use of animal iconography will be used also. I want each marine to look like a character. cheers Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/241707-warlords/#findComment-2920930 Share on other sites

As for the Celtic knotwork design I'd go for rich blue like that of the real Celts. Crusader of Dorn
I'm going with a pale green, and brass/bronze for the detailing. Made a start on the Lord, i'm looking to have the pelts represent bear skins and have changed up some of the bitz. I'll try post some pics soon. Crusader of Dorn
Updated the the above pics, i'm starting to put some details in there. I've given the green a very light blue wash, not sure if it has changed much. I going to give it a second wash after some tighter highlighting. Cheers. Studio Silvernale
You totally need Diarmuid Ua Duibhne and Cu Chulainn with power spears =D Counts-as Relic Blade? Yeah why not. Diarmuid had a spear that cause wounds that were cursed not to heal, and Cu Chulainn's Gae Bolg supposedly always struck the target's heart. Crusader of Dorn
In truth i see myself as more of a pict :) The scibor minis are great for a truescale force like this, the sculpts add alot of base character. The results of the green are quite average atm, i'm thinking of swaping it for pale blue... thoughts?
