how to paint oxidized copper

I ve done it this way before:

 

Base in tin

Next layer, thinned down tin and copper mix.

Next, brush on some clear (varnish)

Next, wash with turquoise that is very watered down.

Next, use a q-tip with some rubbing alcohol to clean up any areas you don't want to be patina.

Next, highlight with pure copper.

Ah, CMON. Hundreds of painters that make me want to toss my brushes and label myself a failure. At least their tutorials can be helpful.
