sonofpollux
After many long weeks of army building, I decided to buy my first box of assault marines for my Blood Angels. How do you paint the yellow heads? I've never been able to figure it out. Help, please. plasman
Yellow helmet ? Here is my suggestion : A would try a base coat of Lyanden Darksun, then highlighting with a mix of Lyanden Darksun and Golden Yellow (or Sunburst Yellow), then a very light (when I say very light I really mean it) wash of Gryphone Sepia. I would do the lining with Devlan Mud or Badad Black in the recesses. Brother Nihm
Things that don't belong in the tutorials area: Questions that aren't a tutorial for starters. "What color do I highlight Scorpion Green with?" Isn't a tutorial or even a tutorial question. That is for General PCA Questions. "Does anyone want a tutorial on X?" If you have a tutorial then just post it. You can find tutorials that people are looking for in the Tutorial Requests Thread. "Where can I find/buy model/paint/tool X?" Again this is something for General PCA Questions. Basically if it isn't something that isn't a step by step instruction it shouldn't be in here! Topic moved. Seahawk
I'd spray them white, for starters -_- I then paint them Golden Yellow. I give the whole head a wash of Gryphonne Sepia, then highlight with Golden Yellow and then edge highlight Sunburst yellow. Simple and effective! werewolf_nr
You can try painting/primering the heads white and then using a yellow ink. Shmitt21
I basecoat Iyanden Darksun > Sepia wash > Iyanden darksun re-coat > Golden yellow/Iyanden 50/50 highlight > finish golden yello, and extreme bleach bone highlight on the edges. Does the trick Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/241752-painting-blood-angels-assault-marine-heads/#findComment-2921493 Share on other sites
Hemal
start white on the helmets, layer them with Iyanden darksun, highlight white or bleached bone, glaze golden yellow, highlight white glaze golden yellow and add extreme edge highlights in white. MMEagle
Personaly I would go for: 1: White/Black underocat. 2: Snakebite Leather. 3: Bubonic Brown (leaving extreme recesses/no recesses). 4: Wash with Gryphonne Sepia and leviathan Purple in the recesses (due to colour theory and the contrasting colours). 5: Then Highlight with 1:1 of Bubonic brown and Sunburst Yellow. 6: Then pure Sunburst Yellow. 7: Then a 1:1 mix of Sunburst Yellow and Bleached Bone. 8: This is optional but if you want to go even lighter Highlight with pure Bleached Bone. Zincite
My method for painting yellow, though admittedly I've never used it on helmets, is: 1) Iyanden Darksun. If you've sprayed black, I'd recommend basecoating them brown before this. 2) Wash with Gryphonne Sepia. 3) Highlight with Golden yellow. 4) Extreme highlights, where the light would hit, with Skull White. 5) Swear you'll never used such an annoying combination of colours again. 6) Repeat on next model. Redfinger
Too many steps for such a simple thing..... Step 1- Drill small holes in the bottom of each head and insert a toothpick so you have something to hold onto. Step 2- Prime w/ Army Painter Yellow Step 3- Weather/Highlight to desired effect.
