Shield-Breaker vs Ork KFF

A year or so ago I never would have thought this an issue but, thanks to the internet, my mind now works in RAW vs RAI. Kinda sad times.

So I was daydreaming away at work today (we weren't so busy) and thought about potentially taking my Vindicare Assassin out for a game sometime soon. One of our group plays Orks and I thought it'd be great to destroy his toy that protects half his army - the Ork Kustom Force Field.

So, here's my issue:

Shield-breaker destroys wargear which provides invun saves as you all know. The KFF though grants 5+ or 6+ cover saves for the models in proximity.

Fluff-wise it makes sense that the Assassin shoots the generator/backpack/force bubble/gubbinz and it's destroyed by the special ammo.

Rule wise I guess someone will point out that cover saves and invulnerable saves are different things, especially when confronted with losing an army protecting toy.

So, am I being silly as I've already answered my own question? Or do any of you folk play it differently?

Not if the Mek is riding in a pimped out battlewagon .

Then the Vindicare uses the Turbo Penetrator and wrecks the Battlewagon- if it fails its cover save.

Then on the next turn the Vindicare tests his shot against the Mek's cover save ;)
