Expanding my Wolves

As the title says, I have been out for a spell, and am trying to look at what I need to add to my army to make it a little more balanced. At the moment, I have the following units.

HQ:

A selection of models to use as a Wolf Lord or WGBL (Ranging from Bolt pistols and CCW to Wolf Claws and Thunder hammer and Storm Shield)

A Rune Priest with Plasma pistol

A Wolf Priest with Plasma Pistol

 

Elites:

Dread with Assault Cannon and Heavy Flamer

2 Iron Priests

A Wolf Guard unit made up of models from the HQ selection

 

Troops:

2 10 model GH packs with Melta Guns

1 9 mode GHl pack with Power Fist and Rhino/Razorback

2 15 model Blood Claw Pack with Power Fist

 

Fast Attack:

5 Model Sky Claw Pack

 

Heavy Support:

Predator that can be swapped between Destructor or Annihilator, though only has Lascannon sponsons

Long Fang Pack with Leader and Missile Launcher

 

I am definetly looking at getting more Razorback kits (since I can make them that or a Rhino) to make my army more mobile, and was planning on making another 2 GH Packs with Plasma Guns as well as filling out that last squad. My grand idea is to make a Great Company for my Wolf Lord, I am just looking to see what would be the best thing to add in soon to make my options better. Any advice and crticism is welcome, as I said I have been out for a while and am not sure how much the game has changed. Thank you.

Looks like you've got a pretty good plan so far. One thing I might suggest is convert some of those regular old Blood Claws to either Grey Hunters or Skyclaws. The young hot heads aren't as good as they used to be, by themselves that is. My personal favorite unit is ten Skyclaws with a flamer, some close combat upgrades, and a jump pack Wolf Priest. Might want to get one of those too. Also, Long Fangs are hands down the best heavy weapons troops in the game right now. Most people favor missile spam, but the split fire rule means that taking different weapon types is perfectly fine (I like 2 LCs or 2 HBs with 3 MLs, but thats just me). Oh, and wolf scouts popping up behind enemy lines are still awesome, all I'm saying.

I agree with Stromclaw. You'll likely only ever end up using 1 of those 15man BC packs. IMO, take 5 of them and put them with the other 5 Skyclaws, then make the remaining 10 into Grey Hunters.

 

I agree with you wanting to get more Razorbacks. Depending on the amount, say, you planned to get 3+ vehicles... so long as 2 of those are Razors, I would probably get 1 Vindicator after that (magnetized for Rhino-potential).

 

 

If this were a "wish list" situation and they were my models, I would feel like I were lacking a retinue of WG in TDA (and/or non-WP HQs in TDA), 1-2 drop pods, atleast 1 Land Raider and/or LRC, and another 1-2 packs of Long Fangs.

 

After that, I would maaaaybe feel like getting approx. 3 land speeders (magnetized), perhaps another Dread (magnetized), and a squadron of Swiftclaws. The speeders I would almost claim are on par in desire with the extra Long Fangs, but that's a preference.
