Demoulius
hello guys, played a game against a friend of mine who resurrected his necrons again with the old dex. we played in our local GW on a 4 by 4 board with modest ruins and wrecks for terrain. I ran: Reclusiarch, infernus pistol, jump pack 2 priests, both PW, one jump pack furioso with extra armour and blood talons 10 tactical marine, plasmagun, multi-melta and powerfist 10 assault marines, 2 meltaguns and fist 5 assault marines, meltagun, power weapon, traded packs for TLLC razorback 2 single MM AB's baal predator, heavy boilters, hunter killer (spare points) vindi with siege shield 1495 points his list was(roughly, firs time i play them so might have some of the names wrong): overlord with warscythe, orb and some sort of scarab upgrade (random model in B2B takes a LD on 3D6, if you fail attack your own unit) 2 cryptecs (?) both with war scythe, one with teleport power and a S8 warp lance or something (oddly enough the "lance" lacks the lance rule :D) dont renember what the other one had, i think the "nightfighting on a turn" thingy unit of 20 warriors - overlord went here unit of 20 warriors - cryptec with night fight here unit of 10 immortals with tesla coils (or something?) cryptec with teleport went here 8 (or 9?) scarabs tomb spyder (or whatever theyre called now...) 3 heavy destroyers 5 snipers with rapid fire sniper weapons (zuh?) we played objectives rolling a 2 on the d3. We basicly played one in every quarter, nothing special about the placment (oddly enough though every objective except one was next to a wrecked vehicle :) ruined stompa, ruined ork battlewagon based on a land raider and a ruined ork truck based on an ork truck respectivly) we rolled for first turn and i won it, opting to take it. i placed my vindi on my left flank. in the middle i had everything else except my baal and my baal was on the right. he responded by placing his scarabs and spyder on my left flank. his 2 units of 20 warriors each were spread out over the middle covering both objectives and covering over half of his deployment zone (guess he was afraid of my vindi?) his destroyers and immortals were on my right flank. his snipers were held in reserve for deepstrike. i used my scout move to move my baal 12 inches forward, bringing him close to the middle of the board. he dident get the initiative (yay!) I opended up the game by blowing up all 3 of his destroyers with the baal (moved 6 inches and let rip with everything except the hunter killer, as they were already dead before he got the chance to shoot it :P ) my vindi shot its cannon at the scarabs, blowing up about 4 or 5 (cant recall) and also hit the spyder also wounding it, my tacticals moved towards the objective in front of them (ruined stompa), the furioso skulked around in the ruins abit to protect them from charges whilst the rest of my army zoomed to support my baal on the right. his turn he moved his scarabs and spyder up. the rest stayed put (suprised me abit) and he let rip with his firepower. sadly for him though only his S8 lance that isent a lance was in range and did fap damage to my baal (woot) my 2nd turn, he called in the night fighting. my vindi fired at the scarabs again, it scattered but still managed to blow up 2 (teehee), baal fired at the immortals and failed to do damage due to his save and il be back save (curse you arni impersonaters!)the razorback moved to the middle of the board (standing a few inches next to the furioso) and fired its TLLC at the spyder and took a wound off. funny thing this turn was that every roll for night fighting was a 7 (and i do mean every roll) meaning every unit could see 21 inches, all able to see their targets B) his 2nd turn. we were unsure if his units were also affected by night fighting but with everyone reading the rule we figured the power affected a player turn, not a game turn and it thus dident effected his own army (why would you take it if it did? :) ) one of his 20 warrior units shot and wrecked my razorback and pinned its crew (boooo) his scarabs charged my furioso. his lance (that isent a lance) again fired at the baal and again dident do anything (teehee) my furioso was overwhelmed by the scarabs and missed with 2 of his 3 attacks, only killing 1 base and received a staggering 20 attacks back! luckily since he needed 5's to hit me only suffered 2 hits, of which only 1 reduced his armour. man that unit gave me a good scare.... his snipers had also arrived this turn and used their "im wounding you on 2+" power on my tacticals. they got 1 rending hit but i saved the rest, they werent pinned... my 3rd turn, vindi zoomed to the left, near the edge of the board and his shot scattered of his target (doh) i moved my assault marines and an attack bike to assault the immortals but sadly the assault marines were 1.5 inch short of their charge!!! the attack bike wasent however so he dug in! the baal fired at the snipers and the tacticals moved up and charged at them as well. my 2nd attack bike charged in to help the furioso out (as the old chap apparently needed it, missing ALL of his attacks  ) he got his armour stripped off a further 3 (turning him into a AV 9/8/6 paper tin can....) assault bike in combat with the immortals got wounded once, and did nothing in return, stayed in combat. tacticals only killed 2 of the snipers (all 5 were still standing) for no wounds in return. as the priest wasent in B2B he couldnt attack, the snipers stayed put... his 3rd turn he shot at the vindi with one of the warrior units, shaking it. dont recall what the other unit was doing. the spyder was an inch out of charge range but the bastard kept spawning more of the little buggers (as if they werent annoying enough :tu: ) in combat with the immortal my attack biker dident do, nor receive damage (booya T5 and 3+ save!) my furioso finally found its 'meatgrinder' mode and mowed down all but the last scarab base. dident receive further damage and the scarabs died to fearless saves. the tacticals won combat by 1, and the snipers ran. a staggering 4 inches, with me 2 inches behind it since i failed to catch him with the iniative test (seriously? really? theyre iniative TWO!!! arghhhhh) my 4th turn, my assault marines jumped in to help their attack bike brother out. the furioso stepped up and blew the tomb spyder point blank in the face with a meltagun taking off its last wound (booya!) the 5 man assault squad from the razorback moved towards the stompa objective (that my tacticals originally held) while those same tacticals moved towards the other close objective (ruined ork battlewagon) my baal was zooming around abit, shooting at stuff. dident impact the game to much. the vindi moved towards his lines abit and popped smokes. the 2nd attack bike fired at one of the warrior squads, killed 1 or two, who mostly got back up (grrrr) my assault squad wiped out his 10 immortals. his cryptec had the sort of upgrade that forces a random model in B2B to take a LD on 3D6 and otherwise attack my own troops. he wounded once (with reroll and furioso charge thanks to priest and chapy) but i passed my save! huzzah. his 4th turn. the closest warrior squad moved up to the assault marines and rapid fired. doing a ton of wounds but only killing my sarg and a random assault marine (poor bastard always takes a shot to the face....perhaps he should put on his helmet for a change :-D ) the other unit fired at the vindi, taking off its demolisher cannon and shaking it. his snipers kept running (below half and within 6 inches of my units) they were behind my furioso and fired at its AV 6 rear, only managing to shake it (thankfully) my 5th turn. the assault squad (&co) charged and routed the closest warrior unit. charged my furioso and 2nd attack bike in the 2nd warrior unit whilst my vindi moved up to contest the objective (should they managed to destroy my pretties in combat) baal thinned the units out abit before the fun began! my attack bike charged and pinned down the overlord so my furioso could safely us his lawnmower arms on the warriors. he killed 6 of the metal beasties but got immobilzed and shaken in return. the attack bike got a face full of warscythe and dident accomplish anything else (but it was enough! he actually wounded himself charging out of the ruin the furioso was in so onl gave up 1 combat res!) he failed his LD test but since my furioso was immobilized I couldnt pursue. they ran 2 inches (lol) his 5th turn. he had 2 running snipers and a squad of running warriors. the snipers shot (again) at the AV6 rear or my furioso and again only shook/stunned it. the warriors fired at my vindi and immobilized him and took his storm bolter off, but needed another damage result to completly destroy him! we asked a friend to roll a D6 to see if we got a 6th turn and he rolled a 2. it was 2 objectives for the blood angels and none for the foul xenos machines! glory for the emprah! woohoo! :) some things though, as my buddy dident have any of the necron vehicles finished he dident take those in his list and it was full infantry. nor had he finished any of the new close combat units. i expect to have very different games when they ARE included! Hope you guys enjoyed. cheers! Dem Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/241833-bas-take-on-necrons/ Share on other sites

Judaz
But...the Necrons are our best friends. How could you be fighting them? BTW, I think you choose to fire the HK missile or not before you roll any other shooting with the Baal. Morticon
BTW, I think you choose to fire the HK missile or not before you roll any other shooting with the Baal. Its just another weapon on the vehicle and a unit's shooting is simultaneous! Rybnick
I had my first fight against the new Necrons this weekend and it was a resounding BA victory (made much easier by my buddy being unable to roll below a 12 for his shooting tests). I will say that their vehicles are very annoying, AV13 on the Ghost Ark and the ammount of firepower it can churn out can be pretty devestating. My Baal Predator and Assault Termy's were the MVP's for me. The Baal was great at taking out his Heavy destroyers early and the Assault Termys ripped through his monolith, 10 immortals, 2 tomb spiders and 7-8 scarab bases with ease. 2+ armor saves with FnP seemed to give the list he had a lot of trouble.
