ogres_lair
Hello, One of my local GWs recently had a battleforce painting competition. I had originally picked up a WHFB battalion to paint. But I could not get anywhere in painting it. So I went back and picked up a Blood Angels Battleforce. I had picked up a technique for painting black from The Vanus Temple and had been wanting to try it out. So I decided to convet the entire battleforce to Death Company. Enough words, here is Brother Chaplin Oberon and the Lost Brethren of the Death Company http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w308/ogre_99_99/Blood%20Angels/th_100_1379.jpg http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w308/ogre_99_99/Blood%20Angels/th_100_1380.jpg http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w308/ogre_99_99/Blood%20Angels/th_100_1373.jpg http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w308/ogre_99_99/Blood%20Angels/th_100_1375.jpg http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w308/ogre_99_99/Blood%20Angels/th_100_1378.jpg http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w308/ogre_99_99/Blood%20Angels/th_100_1370.jpg http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w308/ogre_99_99/Blood%20Angels/th_100_1371.jpg http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w308/ogre_99_99/Blood%20Angels/th_100_1372.jpg Not completely finished, still need static grass and some script on the purity seals and the like. Not bad for 2 days of painting. Later ogre
sonofpollux
I'm curious on how you painted the armor of your Death company? Is it a black undercoat, boltgun metal drybrush, and a badab black wash?
ogres_lair
you can click on the Vanus temple link in the original post and it will take you the the page were I got the technique from. Strangely enough I did'nt use any black on the model except for badab black. The only thing I have done differently is between the third and the fourth final wash of badab I painted in the details and the put the final wash over everything. I did that to tie in the normal techniques with the pure washing tehnique. I will say it looks pretty funky till you put on the last wash. later ogre
BlackKnight1239
Solid looking force, my man. I think I may attempt something similar with my Desath Company squad, though I'm not sure if it'll fit with the more traditional red painting style in the army. Ah well, it'd save me time. fearlessgod
Nice job on the DC so far ogre. I like how they turned out. Since I'm not the best at highlighting black armor, I'm always looking for a better way of getting my DC on the table. I'm not 100% sold on the rhino though. I can't figure out what bothers me about it, but it seems a little "off" to me. Maybe it needs another black wash (or 2)? Not sure. I'd be interested on how this painting technique would look on a DC Dreadnought. Can't wait to see more... ~fearlessgod~
