SM Captain - Paint suggestions?

Hi Everyone, I am currently building a blood angel spin off "Angelus Messor" (Angels of the Reaper)... they are going to be "excommunicate" for their curses.

I am trying to paint up a Company Captain "Charon - Deaths Campion" and i need suggestions for a paint job as I want him to stand out... ^_^ I'm planning on using rules similar/identical to Astaroth the Grim.

The captain is my first kit bashing effort, so be gentle with the comments regarding the green stuff effort!

im also trying to decide whether I use the head from the space wolves or a skull helmet.

I've attached some images, including one of a standard marine (still in works, but shows standard colour scheme) any suggestions on what colours to use would be great!!

Well... You could reverse the paint scheme, leaving the body black and painting the pads red. You could also experiment with Death Company crosses, doing them in either red or black over the main colour.

 

That particular Space Wolves head goes very nicely on captains, I've used it myself. I'd go with that.

You could go half tradional red and half death company style colours with the black with red crosses. I like the kit bashes and I like the theme for your chapter. One thing I would mention is you need to thin your paints a bit more as it does look rather thick in those pictures. Good luck though please keep posting I'm interested to see how this turns out.
