Landraider with Terminators

It's a matter of choice really. A squad of TDA WGs coming out of a land raider is easily just as devastating as vanilla termies. Possibly even more so given our potential combinations of weapons.

Personally I think TWC compared to WG TDA will come down to how you use them and wha ttheir purpose is.

TWC is certainly hard hitting and long charge range, but they can be mowed down by even bolter fire (If you're really unlucky).

I still like Land Raiders and I should really use mine more.

Quite simply, does anyone run Wolf lists that involve a Landraider with terminators in it? Outlandish costs and comparably worse performance next to TWC make this setup upsettingly underwhelming. Are TDA-stuffed Raiders just not for SW?

I use my LRR with wolf guard termies inside with LC and storm bolter to great effect , they usually have ragnar and a WP, I5 LC and rerolls to hit and wound aint shabby

It depends on the role you want them to play.

Both will destroy just about anything in close combat, both have a similar threat range thanks to the assault ramp of the Land Raider.

The Land Raider does provide some long range firepower (both versions), and as a bonus, can fire at something else, even at cruise speed (thanks Machine Spirit!).

Finally, a lot of people don't have TWC, so this is a very viable choice as a replacement.

I find the idea of genetically altered, 10' tall, super soldiers riding giant wolves into battle absurd. However, it seems to fit in the 40K universe in a perverse way, and you can't argue about the effectiveness of the unit. If ya got the wolves, ride 'em into battle, and ride 'em proud. If not, just roll up in the Caddy for your Termy's and unleash Hell.

I personally feel it is a waste to use landraider in the space wolves codex for two reasons;

1) We don't really have a rock unit, just a series of fairly good combat units and generalist. We don't have the hammernators that codex marines have, which means we don't really deathstar that effectively in compersion.

2) It costs a entire Grey Hunter squad and a Rhino. It might be worth it, but it puts people off using it, easpically as most will use it as a transport.

To be honest, I really feel the best way to do it is buy 3 of them, fill them with grey hunters and heros and just plonk them on the objective. Dare them to take the objective from scoring land raiders. XD

I loved my Termis in the Crusader with my Vanilla Marine lists, but the Wolf Guard Termis just get too pricey. My 15 Blood Claws with Wolf Priest in the Crusader have yet to let me down. I tend to keep them in reserve and they always swing the battle in my favor when they arrive. Having them in reserve also helps with the psychological warfare as well. Weighing in at 600 points means that a significant chunk of the army is not on the table. An opponent starts to feel like they have a battle in the bag until the big hammer shows up. You could accomplish a similar effect with the TDA Wolf Guard, but baring Logan Grimnar they can't hold objectives where as the Blood Claws can.

I love the Land Raider Crusader, even if it just gives the army a great centerpiece.

I'm a fan of termis + ragnar/wolf priest. Power weapon+SS is not something to underestimate.
love em(PW+SS) a great combo for wolves. The other thing to consider make each one an individual for wound allocation. Thats one expensive combo above 800+pts. effective yes eggs in one basket yes

Well, I have 4 or 5 different wolfwing list I use. One of them is a triple landraider list with 3 sqauds of 5 terminators with Logan and if I got the points with a runepriest. Most of the time I use two godhammer landraiders and 1 crusader, or 2 crusaders and a godhammer landraider. The godhammer landraider I use for long range anti tank and if I have cleaned the battlefield I move in.

But using landraiders is risky. My list works, but I'm always in worry about meltaguns, lance weapons and so on. Played 30 games with a triple list and 18 wins, 5 draws and 7 losses.

But I also uses lists with 1 landraider crusader and 3-5 droppods for the terminators.

Got a lot of options. Most of the time 1 or 2 combiweapons, 1 stormshields, a wolfclaw and a power weapon. Most of the time I use as heavy weapon assault cannon or an heavy flamer. If I use droppod I use as heavy weapon cyclone missile launcher
