forgotten sons

Recommended Posts

hi i am thinking of creating a new chapter called forgotten sons.

the background is that they stem from the 2 forgotten chapters there gene seed is what remains from the primarchs of 2 and 11 legion, the best and most stable

were amalgamated nd kept secret they have been trained by custodes and take fighting talent from all the legions. they where primarily used for black bag operations and worked behind the lines during the horus heresy, never having fought with their brother legions, to this end they have encountered necrons and tyranids in the past having fought outside the imperium.

this chapter doesnt work alone but calls upon squads from the custodes, silent sisterhood and the ordo inquisitor.

now because of there unique experience with all enemies of the imperium they are being brought out of the shadows and into the light to counter the growing threat from the rising necrons and expanding tyranids.

i would like to know if you guys think this is a viable start and what would be the rules for this if i was to use this legion in games.

this is just a beginning so what do u think any advise.

ive just found out that someone came up with this in 2005 calling them the same name can i still use this name or shall i change it to sons of terra.

Playing with the missing 2nd and 11th Legions is generally a terrible idea. Vaguely hinting might be okay, but never directly say.

A Chapter can't call upon the Custodes or the Inquisition. Wouldn't of thought they can call upon the Silent Sisterhood either. Black Bag operations isn't the realm of the Space Marines either. They are the Emperor's Angels of Death. They are designed for war.

Black Bag operations can be left to the Inquisition, Assassin Temples maybe and so on.

I'd advise you read http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...howtopic=132379

Its got great advise for DIYing.

thanks romas just looked at the link yeah not such a good idea think im gnonna change it to a being a subsequent chapter lost in the warp and emerged far out of the imperium where they encountered the necrons leaving only 300 surviving and returning to terra where they are in put in stasis, for the past 200yrs they have been awoken and are building their numbers to ready to get payback on the necrons im gonna call then the sons of terra, do u think it feasable that they recruit from the hives on terra

Probably not, the only chapter who have the honour of recruiting directly from Terra are the Imperial Fists.

I'm also not particularly sure how plausible being held in statis on Terra is. On their homeworld maybe, on an Forge World with the facilities perhaps, but probably not Terra. I don't think there is a precedent for a chapter of marines being put in statis before. In fact the only instance of stasis in the 40k fluff that I can remember is Guilliman of the Ultramarines on Macragge.... I spelled his name wrong didn't I...

Check out that 'Guide to DIYing' and the 'Octaguide 2.0' for more general advice on creating chapters. Helped me a bunch!

Yes. This stuff does take a lot of work, but at least you haven't committed anything yet. If you want a chapter that fights Necrons a lot, they should be based on the eastern fringe, where most Necron activity has happened. Do not make them lost in the warp. Recruiting from Terra is also probably a bad idea for reasons stated in the last post. Maybe they based themselves on a tombworld and had most of their force wiped out? That would give them a compelling reason to fight Necrons wherever they stand.
