RT era spacewolves helmet stripes

Recommended Posts

I'm planning a Rogue Trader era spacewolves army and was just wondering what colour to do the helmet stripes

I was planning to follow this image and go with yellow for the regular troopers.

here's a work in progress shot:

though contemplating if I shouldn't go with red as they are red on the cover of the book of astronomicon

also not sure what to do with veterans and sergeants and such:

Any ideas? veterans would probably just be yellow/black, and field police will be the standard red helmet with yellow/black stripe, but what about sergeants, captains and veteran sergeants/captains?

It's really up to you how you wanna do it since there is no set in stone paint/marking scheme for Space Wolves period, each great company can be extremely individualized based upon that wolf lord's style. To give the RT feel to them when I played 13th co all my Grey Slayers helmets were black. The first pack had a single red stripe, the second pack had 2 red stripes. Then for the Storm Claws they had a single yellow stripe for the actual Storm Claws pack & the Wolf Lord's bodyguard had none.

I believe the whole point in the helmet markings is because in RT all the left shoulders were studded & so it cut back on how much stuff would go on the right pad.

Why not reverse the red and yellow in the regular RT scheme?

Yellow Stripe for regular marine (armament will declare whether its grey hunter, blood claw or long fang)

Yellow centre stripe and black horizontal stripes for veterans

Sergeant (squad leader) Yellow Centre stripe with red stripes either side

Captain would be same as sergeant but have black stripes on either side of the red.

Space Wolves organisation doesn't really conform to this scheme anymore though.

For example you have regular wolves and veterans but no sergeants as such now (unless you paint your wolf guard pack leaders up in this scheme)

Like the grey and yellow scheme though. Keep up the good work.
