Wolves and BT take second at doubles

So I recently participated in my local stores doubles tournament, this one had a twist however. The pairings were random, lucky me I got paired with another of the emperor's finest instead of some xeno scum. We placed second with 2 massacre results and one loss, and sore legs from 11 hours of standing up. Bat reps possibly a coming.

So yeah Bat Reps.

Note the games were played with 6 objectives , kill points and base objectives , each garnering 5 points, for massacre results of 15.

Interesting enough First game was against both of the galaxy's mortal enemies. Necrons and Nids.

I gotta tell you new necrons are obnoxious.

my List btw consisted of

2 rune priest: 1 with LL JoTWW and the other LL and MH. (they both chill with the long fang packs for added fire support)

4 grey hunter packs

2 of them were 9 grey hunters with a melta gun in rhinos

the 4th was 5 grey hunters with a melta in a rhinos

1 other 9 man pack in a drop pod

A squad of 4 wolf guard with thunder hammers in power armor (split to lead my grey hunters)

2 Packs of long fangs with 4 missile launchers.

SO GAME ONE:

the 6 objectives are evenly spread out trough the board with 3 on our side and 3 on theirs in a pretty straight line. Our home objective is directly opposite of theirs, each being as close to board edge as possible ,straight down the middle of the board.

Its dawn of war (my most hated game mode) So we decide to just deploy the BT LRC with emps champion and crusader squad (it was decided that it was to be 1 HQ and 2 troops per team not per player)

The tyranid player deploys his hive tyrant and his tyrant guard with a squad of dev gaunts. They fail to seize the initiative.

FIRST turn: My drop pod comes screaming down from the heavens. It lands next to an ice bridge in the center of the board providing some more cover for our advancing forces, the Grey hunters deployed into the ice bridge were they couldn't be seen by the enemy. Meanwhile both my long fang packs thread onto the board into some nice cover. Then our rhinos move further up the board. Shooting phase starts and we cant see a darn thing, except for the LRC who shoots at the tyrant guard, inflicting a single wound.

Necron and Nid turn: The command barges come zooming in,the doomsday arc parks itself opposite of one of my long fang packs at the other side of the board and the rest of the tyranid horde comes walking in, some devourer gaunts move onto the same piece of terrain as my Drop pod pack, but they cannot gain LoS.Then it turns ugly(or so it seemed) the Necron player uses his first of two solar flares to cancel their night fighting .The hive tyrant opens fire upon my drop pod, but does nothing to it(was firing some S6 living ammo) . One of the necro lords uses his one shot S9 lance upon the LRC, but to little avail as the blessed vehicle is missed entirely. Sadly one of my rhinos is then immobilized. The drop pod is then assaulted and shaken(which was weird).

SECOND turn:

Long fangs stay put(as old men ought to do), the LRC advances further and the rhinos move up to support. The BT Land speeder comes in and after much debate we decide its going next to the doomsday ark (I assured my friend the emperor protects), we roll mild scatter , lo and behold the emperor answers our prayers, the speeder is within 12 inches of the ark.My DP grey hunters move directly in front of the dev gaunts. Now the necron player uses his second solar flare to make it night fighting again....which is extra heretical. But little do they count on our acute senses, for my long fangs need not see heresy to fire at it(they can smell it from miles away). My long fang pack near the middle of the board rolls 30 inches, which is more than enough to see the hive tyrant and his guard, we proceed to rain crack missiles and living lightning on it, killing one guard inflicting another wound on the tyrant and wounding the rest of the guard. The LRC opens fire on the guard killing one more, and then the Land speeder opens up its full flurry of missiles and multi melta on the necron vehicle , causing it to explode. My grey hunters on the ice bridge open fire on the gaunts with their bolt pistols downing but two of their number. Then with a howl of challenge with proceed into the assault phase and my grey hunters charge the gaunts losing but a single man (brother Jebadiah was old) and taking the gaunts down to a single one after fearless saves are rolled.

Nid and Cron turn (NidCron?):

They roll for reserves and the doom of malantai(spelling?) arrives. Albeit they intend to deep-strike next to my long fang pack it lands on the other edge of the ice bridge next to one of my rhinos. The doom walks out. The ghost arks move forward, and one command barge turbo boosts over the LRC striking it 3 times but failing to damage it (we just the emp champion jumped out to parry the strikes), while the other one passes over my rhino immobilizing it. An anihilation barge moves close to my long fangs. During the shooting phase the blessed black machine finally goes down to tyranid strength 10 lances, but the 15 man squad and the emperor's champion are now thirsty for the blood of heretics. An anihilation barge shoots at my long fang pack, costing me a missile launcher and the pack leader. Finally in the assault phase the hive tyrant assaults one of my rhinos wrecking it(the immobilized one) and I finish off his dev gaunts.

to be continued(well that was a long wait shouldnt have started typing these at work)

THIRD turn:

My Grey hunters disembark from their rhinos, the 15 man crusader squad moves toward the tyrant. My grey hunters that drop podded figure they can have some more glory so they keep moving forward. The BT speeders move up. During the shooting phase we disable a ghost arc, wreck an annihilation barge and kill the final tyrant guard, I melta the doom down in one shot. My DP grey hunters run during the shooting phase behind the cover of the wrecked ghost arc. Despite all our shooting all we manage is to shake the command barges. In the assault phase we kill the hive tyrant , I destroy a command barge and immobilize the other one (KRAK GRENADES YEAh!!!), sadly the lord just takes a wound to negate it.

Nid and Cron turn

The one remaining command barge speeds away, the cron unit from the wrecked ghost ark moves towards my grey hunters. In the shooting phase the disembarked necrons rapid fire into my grey hunters, a ghost ark broadsides another squad, meanwhile biovores and zoanthropes fire into the 15 man crusader squad(which does nothing but anger our black brethren). But at this point the jaws have closed and their doom is sealed. In the assault phase the necron lord attacks my grey hunter squad, I lose a single man but the lord goes down to thunder hammer blows.

FOURTH turn:

My last standing grey hunters (2 and a wolf guard)from the drop pod squad move closer towards the necrons that whittled them down, our black brethren move ever closer to the enemy home objective and my grey hunters finish getting on our objectives. During the shooting phase we destroy another ghost ark thanks to my long fangs, and I down a single necron with 3 bolt pistols. In the assault phase the emperor's champion squad destroys a squad of gaunts and ties up some zoanthropes , meanwhile my 2 grey hunters and wolf guard assault the full necron squad, they go down in glory.

at this point time is called and our oponents admit they couldnt have done anything even if they had their turn. Massacre result, we hold most objectives, have our home one and contest theirs and posses the most kill points.
