Flat out and immobilised

Death Dealer 101

Greetings,

When a skimmer moves flat out in my turn and then is immobilised by enemy shooting is it destroyed.

I have heard:

1) No it is only destroyed if it occurs in your turn, ie difficult terrian or own shooting

2) It doesn't matter who's turn it was as all it says if the skimmer moved flat out in the movement phase and is immobilised then it is destroyed.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

i suspect this is confusion due to what happens to transported units, where if it happens in your own turn- ie friendly fire or immob on terrain- the transported unit is destroyed, but not if the opponent takes the skimmer down in their next player turn.

Well, if that was the intended question instead of what was actually asked :

FAST TRANSPORT VEHICLES

Passengers may not embark onto or disembark from a fast vehicle if it has moved (or is going to move) flat out in that Movement phase.

Notice that passengers are prevented from Disembarking from a Fast Transport only in that Movement Phase were it is or did move Flat out. So once it becomes your Shooting Phase or your opponent's turn it is no longer "that Movement Phase" and therefore the passengers were free to Disembark. As supported and amended by these two FAQs:

Q: If a transport vehicle is destroyed in the same turn as it moved flat out what happens to any embarked models? (p70)

A: They are removed as casualties.

The Turn

Q: What is meant when the term ‘turn’ is used? (p9)

A: Whenever the word turn is used it means player turn. Otherwise it will clearly state game turn. In a complete game turn both players get a player turn. Hence one game turn will comprise two player turns.

The first FAQ expands the window that causes the transported unit to be destroyed to your entire Turn instead of just your Movement phase. The second FAQ clarifies that the term "Turn" means player turn not game turn (or it would specifically say Game Turn. Therefore a transport destroyed in your opponents turn may still Emergency Disembark the transported unit(contingent on all the other factors relating to a normal Emergency Disembarking), instead of it being destroyed.

Skimmers that flat out and then get immobilised are destroyed with the exception of a few vehicles with special rules or certain vehicle upgrades which allow you to ignore this.

Units transported in said skimmers are only destroyed if it happens in the player turn in which the skimmer moved flat out and not in the game turn. This means that this is normally only an issue if you go flat out into or out of terrain.
